Media Matters ‘War’ on Fox News Brings New Scrutiny on Tax-Exempt Status

FoxNews.com

Published June 30, 2011

The chorus is growing for the IRS to scrutinize  Media Matters’ tax-exempt status as the left-leaning media  watchdog group wages a “war” on Fox News.

Recent questions about Media Matters’ activities  stem from a campaign against Fox News that founder David Brock described in an  interview this year as “guerilla warfare and sabotage.” By its own admission,  the group is conducting “opposition research” against certain executives and  producers. It also features a link on its website called “Drop Fox” which  helps users contact advertisers and urge them to boycott the network.

C. Boyden Gray, White  House counsel during the George  H.W. Bush administration, said the group’s claim that Fox News is the leader of the Republican  Party “is demonstrably false” and crosses the line.

Hamas is Behind the Jihad Warship “Flotilla”

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Even the leftist tools exploited by Islamic jihad can see it is what it is. Considering how blinded they are by their own delusion, this is pretty remarkable.

This is the real “freedom flotilla.” We call on all free nations, free peoples, to support the Freedom from Jihad flotilla with boats, ships, funding, security and will. There should be a navy of Freedom from Jihad flotillas.

The Hamas flotilla is an act of war and should be condemned internationally. Is it any surprise that the Ground Zero mosque radical imam Rauf was a prominent member of the organization that financed the first jihad flotilla?

National Council of La Raza Funding Skyrockets after Obama Hires Its VP

You probably have seen plenty of evidence of the Obama administration’s hostility to existing immigration law, from supporting illegal alien sanctuary cities, to suspending the deportations of illegal alien criminals, to the infamous Obama administration memo outlining “administrative” ways to bypass Congress and enact illegal alien amnesty.

But if you needed more convincing, just follow the money trail. As first reported last week by our own Corruption Chronicles blogger Irene Garcia:

A Judicial Watch investigation reveals that federal funding for a Mexican La Raza group that for years has raked in millions of taxpayer dollars has skyrocketed since one of its former top officials (Cecelia Muñoz) got a job in the Obama White House. [Muñoz currently serves as Obama’s Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.]

How high has the funding skyrocketed? Government cash infusions to the radical Chicano organization, known as the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), almost tripled the year Muñoz joined the White House, from $4.1 million to $11 million!

According to Irene’s report, the funding came from a variety of sources within the Obama administration:

Not surprisingly, a big chunk of the money (60%) came from the Department of Labor, which is headed by a former California congresswoman (Hilda Solis) with close ties to the La Raza movement. Since Obama named her Labor Secretary, Solis has launched a nationwide campaign to protect illegal immigrant workers in the U.S. Just this week Solis penned declarations with Guatemala and Nicaragua to preserve the rights of their migrants.

Bachmann begins GOP run with vow to Iowa

Michele Bachmann officially announced her candidacy for the presidency in Iowa with a homespun, Iowa-centric speech. Picture: AP Source: AP

A HORDE of presidential candidates descends on Iowa this week to secure support in the nation’s first caucus state, but Michele Bachmann has gone one better: she launched her campaign with a resounding reminder that she was here first.

The Minnesota congresswoman, who was raised in the state, officially announced her candidacy for the presidency yesterday in a homespun speech in which she promised to transplant the God-fearing, conservative values of rural Iowa directly to the Oval Office.

President Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Thaddeus McCotter and Rick Santorum were due to meet the idiosyncratic Iowan caucus-goers today but none of them will be able to match Ms Bachmann’s pledge.

Hastings: Obama energy policies “anti-American”

HotAir.com

posted at 11:15 am on June 25, 2011 by Jazz Shaw

We previously discussed the president’s rather… “interesting” decision to release part of the strategic petroleum reserve this week. It was a rather pointless, if not dangerous political maneuver which isn’t winning him any friends. Now the chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, Doc Hastings, has weighed in on the subject and he is less than pleased.

“The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is intended for situations when there’s a dramatic supply shut down, not to achieve short-term political gain.  However, this is a clear admission from the Obama Administration that increasing domestic oil supplies will help lower costs. Unfortunately, for the past two and a half years, the Obama Administration has consistently blocked efforts to expand American energy production and has actively placed moratoriums on domestic development.  This release will only cover a fraction of the oil production lost from the Gulf of Mexico due to the Administration’s moratorium and permitting delays.  The Administration’s anti-American energy policies have left the United States increasingly vulnerable to the whims of the world oil market and OPEC’s erratic decisions on oil supply.”

O’Reilly: Revoke Media Matters’ Tax Status

Newsmax.com

Friday, 24 Jun 2011 11:29 AM

By Tom O’Connell

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly has gone on the offensive against the media criticism group Media Matters for America and its website, referring to its “assassination” attempts on conservative figures and Fox reporters, and assailing its tax-exempt status. He called for the Media Matters, Bill OReillyIRS to “revoke its status immediately,” reports ediaite.com.Former White House Counsel C. Boyden Gray, appearing on O’Reilly’s show, said an organization called the American Campaign Academy “run by Republican operatives” had been turned down for tax-exempt status by the IRS because of its obvious political slant, while on the other side of the spectrum, Media Matters is allowed to propagandize while not paying taxes.

O’Reilly points out that the group received its status under the President George W. Bush administration. Gray said it had presented itself at the time as an organization whose aim was “distributing materials that analyze media bias.” Eventually, though, it became “a war against [Fox News] and a media boot camp…. This is not what they said and not what they were given tax exempt status for.”

Amid Growing Outrage, Lawmaker Wants Federal Probe into Delta-Saudi Agreement

A U.S. lawmaker wants the Federal Aviation  Administration to investigate allegations that Delta Airlines has entered into  an agreement with Saudi Arabia that could prohibit American Jews from flying  into the country – a charge the airline and the Saudi government vigorously  dispute.“I request your investigation into this matter to  determine whether Delta Airlines violated U.S. law or regulation and to ensure  no U.S. citizen is denied their right to fly solely on the basis of their  religion,” Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk wrote in a letter to the head of the FAA.

The call for an investigation came as Delta  responded to outrage about Saudi Arabian Airlines joining SkyTeam Alliance – of  which Delta is a member. SkyTeam is a 14-member international airline alliance based in Amsterdam.

Delta strongly refuted allegations it was  discriminating against Jews or Christians, explaining they are required to  follow “all applicable laws governing entry into every country we serve.”

The price of oil plummeted by nearly 5 percent on  Thursday after Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced the U.S. will release 30
million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. But  Republicans in Congress lined up to slam the move, linking it to the need for more drilling in the U.S.Rep. Marsha Blackburn, who sits on the Energy  and Commerce Committee, said, “I am appalled but not surprised that the president views his falling poll numbers as a national crisis.”And,  committee chairman, Rep. Fred Upton said, “It’s hard to believe that the Administration would rather tap into our emergency supply than support  legislation to produce and evelop North American supplies, which will create American jobs.

Delta airlines no longer allowing Jewish passengers on flights to Saudi Arabia?

HotAir.com

Utter madness if true.  Is it?

Delta Airlines, in its new alliance with Saudi Arabian Airlines, might wind up making a bargain shocking Jews and Christians — no Jews, no Bibles on board to the desert kingdom.

Delta doesn’t currently fly to Saudi Arabia, but next year it will have a new code-sharing agreement with the Saudi airlines through the SkyTeam network. That means folks may be booking through Delta but still flying a Saudi airline…

Jewish leader Rabbi Irwin Kula was wary about inflaming concerns on this, saying he knows many Jewish professionals who are very open about their religious identity who fly to Saudi Arabia all the time for business.

Google Loves Obama [Reader Post] — {Does Google’s love affair affect Conservatives?}

FloppingAces.net

June 22, 2011

[Editor:  Will Google use it's power to "push" Obama in the upcoming election?  Is this 'love' relationship going to negatively affect the GOP or Conservative and Tea Party movement in 2012? Why is it that uber-rich jerks that made their wealth from capitalism turn against the very system that gave them this wealth? This perplexes me, the editor of this website.  Good story from Flopping Aces!]

Despite his populist anti-free market rhetoric and record, the President has a love affair and relationship with a corporate giant. The company is Google and the incestuous relationship pays dividends to both parties but leaves taxpayers out as the third wheel.

Money magazine in an article entitled “Obama & Google (A Love Story)” described the love affair as “[F]rom his denunciations of Wall Street greed to his critiques of the auto manufacturers, Obama and his team have done little to disguise their mistrust of big business — except when it comes to one very large, very influential technology company.”

The relationship between the corporate giant and the president started before Obama’s ascension to the presidency.

Google has long supported President Obama. In his book, “The Audacity of Hope” President Obama embraces the relationship pointing out that Google managers and employees were among his largest supporters, donating nearly one million dollars to his campaign.

A motivational speaker has been found guilty over the deaths of three people who fell ill during a meeting at an Arizona “sweat lodge”.

A jury found James Ray guilty of three counts of “negligent homicide”.

The deaths occurred at the Angel Valley Retreat Center, 115 miles (180km) north of Phoenix, in October 2009.

Ray’s lawyers said the deaths were a tragic accident, but prosecutors said he had failed to act when people exhibited signs of distress.

The Worst May Be Yet To Come From Obama’s Regulatory Board

Townhall.com

As more Americans become familiar with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) due to the complaint it filed against the Boeing Company for building a production facility in a right-to-work state against the wishes of the union representing its Washington State employees, the regulatory agency stocked with President Obama’s appointees continues to deliberate over job-killing policies that reward Big Labor bosses and hurt workers. In addition to threatening companies that want to create jobs in the 22 states that have passed right-to-work laws, which protect a worker’s freedom of association by prohibiting unions and employers from making membership in the union a condition of employment, the NLRB announced that it was considering a sweeping new change that would give Big Labor easy access to non-union employers, but which threatens the cohesiveness of the workplace and dramatically increases costs and litigation on employers in one of the worst economies since the Great Depression. Government Looks to Past, Free Enterprise to Future

Townhall.com

Two years ago, in June 2009, the American economy emerged from recession, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research. But as this week’s Economist noted, with typical British understatement, “The recovery has been a disappointment.”

And maybe not a recovery for long. Robert Shiller, the economist who first identified the housing bubble, said last week that we may be headed for recession again. “Whether we call it a double dip or not,” he told Reuters, “there is a risk.”

His Case-Shiller housing price index indicated that home prices in March slumped to levels not seen since March 2003, and Shiller says they may keep falling for 20 years.

As I look back on these years of economic tumult, I sometimes think of an off-the-record session arranged by National Review with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson back in the fall of 2007.

Hotels Warned of ‘Mumbai-Style’ Terror Threat

Published June 17, 2011

Federal authorities are warning hotels in major U.S. cities to be vigilant after intelligence recently obtained in Somalia shows Al Qaeda was planning to launch a “Mumbai-style” attack on an upscale hotel in London, England, Fox News has learned exclusively.

The intelligence came from computer accessories and other materials gathered at the checkpoint in Mogadishu where Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, the Al Qaeda operative who masterminded the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in East Africa, was killed Saturday, according to sources.

Taj Hotel Fire Mumbai

Nov. 27, 2008: Smoke rises from the Taj Hotel in Mumbai. Gunmen killed at least 80 people in a series of attacks in India’s financial capital.

Al Qaeda was working on what one senior U.S. intelligence official described as an “aspirational” – but possibly operational – plot to target the Ritz hotel in London. As part of the plot, operatives would stay in strategically chosen rooms on the first floor of the hotel, and then they would set their rooms ablaze in hopes of trapping guests on the floors above.

Despite Growing Concern, Democrats Ignore Islamic Radical Threats

Townhall.com

At a House hearing on Muslim-American radicalization in prisons Wednesday, several Democrat members were anxious to focus on anything but the topic at hand, instead bringing up threats in prisons posed by “right-wing” radicals, gun possession, and gang members.

“The violent right-wing ideology of many of these gangs must be discussed,” said ranking member Rep. Bennie Thompson when stating his case why the committee should be focusing on “extremists of all stripes.”

He also tried to shift the spotlight to gun shows.

“Earlier this month, Adam Gadahan, an American-born spokesman for al Qaeda, released a video calling on Muslims to commit acts of violence against America by taking advantage of the gun show loophole,” Thompson said.

The Department of Homeland Security has sent out an internal alert warning that jihadist websites last week posted a “hit list” of American executives, officials and companies — an alarming development that could mark the start of a new phase in terror plots.

The list, which covers dozens of names connected to the Iraq war, including executives at Halliburton and KBR, was compiled by users who vowed to “send explosive mail” to the “best target.” The lists were published online around the same time American-born Al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn released a video in which he called on Muslims in the U.S. to kill Americans.

To Err is Human..to really screw thing up you need government to take it over

-Unknown Conservative Philosopher

One of the arguments against government intrusion into every aspect of our lives is that a government can never run a business as well as private industry.

Lets face it, the government has no competition so there is no incentive to be efficient or to produce a superior product. For example the post office does not close unprofitable post offices because Congress tells them they can’t, the same thing with Amtrak and unprofitable train routes. Fannie and Freddie helped to create the housing bubble by supporting loans that were unprofitable but “politically correct.”

Obama on unemployment: Don’t forget that those ATMs are taking jobs too

Via Fox Nation. See now why the DNC has to resort to running dumb ads like this? The alternative is to let this guy go out on the stump and explain America’s crippling unemployment in his own words. Here’s where that strategy gets you.

Who knows?  Maybe he’s signaling an exciting new innovation in federal regulation. If the NLRB can tell Boeing where it has to build its planes, why can’t it tell Netflix to stop instant streaming in the name of saving jobs? ‘Palin 2.0’ – The Mainstream Media’s Attempt to Deny Sarah Palin’s Vindication

Andrew Breitbart

BigGovernment.com

Posted Jun 14th 2011 at 6:48 pm

by Andrew Breitbart

Since her national debut in August 2008, the mainstream media has been determined to destroy Gov. Sarah Palin. Journalists flocked to Alaska to dig up dirt. They spun smears about book bans and rape kits. Some even indulged conspiracy theories about the birth of her son. They showed no interest in her outstanding record.

They kept going after her long after the 2008 election, blaming her for the Tuscon shootings–and attacking her for defending herself.

But now her assailants must face reality. After poring over thousands of emails from Palin’s term as governor, the mainstream media has been forced to concede that Palin was a conscientious, transparent, and effective public servant.

The pending release of Steve Bannon’s documentary on Palin, The Undefeated, bolsters that narrative. Above all, Palin’s mere persistence has forced some journalists to realize that their strategy of smears has failed.

So the mainstream media has invented a new meme with which to attack Sarah Palin. It started with Joshua Green’s article in the Atlantic a few weeks ago, in which he lamented “The Tragedy of Sarah Palin.”

Green wrote:

As governor, Palin demonstrated many of the qualities we expect in our best leaders. She set aside private concerns for the greater good, forgoing a focus on social issues to confront the great problem plaguing Alaska, its corrupt oil-and-gas politics…. And she succeeded to a remarkable extent in settling, at least for a time, what had seemed insoluble problems, in the process putting Alaska on a trajectory to financial well-being.

However, Green argued, Palin went wrong after 2008. She let her “worst impulses” take over. She “let herself be distracted by the many grievances she harbored against a wide range of enemies.” She “obsessed over her image, even more than most politicians.”

Palin Emails ‘Enhance Her Reputation’

Sarah Palin, emails, Toby Harnden, Pete Rouse, Obama

The media’s relentless chase for Sarah Palin’s emails has backfired so much that their release will end up helping her rather than harming her. The 13,000 missives show the former Alaskan governor to be “idealistic, conscientious, humorous, and humane,” says Britain’s Telegraph.Toby Harnden, the website’s U.S. editor, says the release of the messages seems likely to leave Palin’s reputation “considerably enhanced.”

“One can only assume that the left-leaning editors who dispatched teams of reporters to remote Juneau, the Alaskan capital, to pore over the emails in the hope of digging up a scandal are now viewing the result as a rather poor return on their considerable investment,” Harnden writes. Among the emails that make Palin look good, he points out, is one from May 2007 where she insists that all alcohol in the governor’s mansion should be removed because teens visiting during prom and graduation season may be tempted.

The Faux Credibility of the Nobel Prize

Chriss W. Street

by Chriss W. Street

It seems hypocritical that MIT faculty member and recent Nobel Laureate, Peter Diamond, would lash out in a New York Times Op Ed titled: “When a Nobel Prize Isn’t Enough”, for not being confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve. It was only after twice failing to receive Senate support that the good professor miraculously received his Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in October of 2010.

Nobel Prizes were once considered to be prestigious honors awarded by panels of impartial experts in recognition of lifetimes of cultural and scientific achievement in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace. But with Peter Diamond in 2010 joining Barak Obama in 2009, Paul Krugman in 2008, and Al Gore in 2007; the Nobel has been reduced to just another example of a left wing political action committee bestowing faux credibility on fellow travellers to influence American political policy.
