GOP Senators renew plea to avoid ‘devastating’ defense cuts

March 30, 2012
Before departing for a two-week Easter recess Thursday, Republican senators renewed a plea for bipartisan collaboration to avoid a round of crippling budget cuts to the Defense Department.

Under an agreement reached last year by legislators on both sides of the aisle, automatic budget cuts to the Defense Department could reduce its funding by $500 billion over the next 10 years–on top of the $487 billion the department has already been ordered to find and slash. The cuts, which Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has repeatedly called a “meat ax,” would take effect on Jan. 1 and would create particularly dire financial straits for the department in Fiscal 2013.

Other federal departments, including Education, are expected to take a budget hit under this Budget Control Act requirement, called sequestration, but DoD has received most of the attention on the issue, as it is slated to absorb half of the cuts.

EVEN RUSSIAN NEW AGENCIES ARE REPORTING OBAMA’S BIRTH RECORD AS FORGERIES – WHY DOES THE AMERICAN MEDIA CONTINUE TO PROTECT OBAMA?

While many U.S. mainstream media outlets spike news about the Obama eligibility investigation, Russia’s government radio is keeping the world abreast of the scandal that has caused “the biggest censorship and blackout in the history of journalism.”

The Voice of Russia – successor of Radio Moscow, the official station of the Soviet Union – published an exclusive interview with Sheriff Joe Arpaio March 26 titled, “Obama’s birth certificate may be forgery.” As WND reported, Arpaio and his Cold Case Posse announced there is probable cause indicating the documents released by the White House last April purported to be Obama’s original, long-form birth certificate and Selective Service registration card are actually forgeries.

Prosecutors: Democratic campaign treasurer embezzled at least $7 million from multiple clients

A longtime California Democratic campaign treasurer embezzled at least $7 million from as many as 50 clients including politicians, local officials and other political entities in a scheme that continued for more than 10 years, according to a new court filing by federal prosecutors.

Kinde Durkee, who spent two decades working for scores of campaigns in California and was Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s campaign treasurer, was charged with five new counts of mail fraud in the court filing late Tuesday.

The filing alleges that Durkee altered campaign finance reports to intentionally defraud the clients of her Burbank-based firm, Durkee and Associates. It details how since 2000 Durkee had allegedly taken check after check meant for the accounts of her political clients and used them for her own personal and business expenses.

In one example, Durkee reportedly took a $23,000 check made out to Feinstein’s campaign and used it to pay an American Express bill that included charges to Amazon.com, Trader Joe’s, Disneyland and the Los Angeles Dodgers, among other things. Durkee also reportedly used Feinstein’s campaign funds to pay for her mortgage, phone bill, and expenses for her employees.

Energy Policy, Keystone, Gas Prices – What Is the President Putting Off?

By Christine Hall, March 26, 2012

Washington, D.C., March 26, 2012  – Oops.  President Obama was caught Monday on a live microphone asking outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for more “space” on missile defense. “This is my last election,” Obama said. “After my election, I have more flexibility.”  This raises the question: What other important policy matters is the President is putting on hold until after the election?

Obama put off dealing with the Keystone Pipeline, thus avoiding a politically difficult decision in a situation that pitted Obama’s backers in the environmental movement against those in organized labor. Obama put the nation’s energy security at risk because he was worried about political ramifications.

“Whether it’s the Keystone XL Pipeline or missile defense, the president puts political calculations ahead of the national interest. How very un-presidential,” said CEI senior fellow Marlo Lewis.

“The President’s hot mic gaff reveals the Obama administration’s agenda of putting political ambitions ahead of the country,: said CEI Labor Policy Counsel Vincent Vernuccio. “In January, Obama rejected making a decision on the Keystone Pipeline because of what the White House called an ‘arbitrary deadline.’ But the President’s comments today show that the only problem with the deadline is that it came before his re-election and forced him to choose between his extreme environmentalist supporters and his labor union allies.

Obamacare Goes to the Supreme Court

Obamacare Goes to the Supreme Court
[This is the most important Supreme Court decision of our lives. Simply stated, if Obamacare stands, we lose many of our cherished freedoms.  Over 70% of Americans want this law, rightfully so, to be declared UNCONSTITUTIONAL.]

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), or Obamacare, is off to the Supreme Court for a three-day marathon of oral arguments. Lawyers representing the federal government will attempt to prove the law’s constitutionality; those representing private individuals, the National Federation of Independent Business, and most prominently, 26 states, will argue that PPACA violates the supreme law of the land. The Court has allotted six hours for arguments, and while it doesn’t seem like much time for such a contentious and crucial issue, bear in mind that the court typically grants a case just one hour. This is the most argument time given in 47 years.

So what questions will the Court answer? What will the lawyers argue? How might the Justices vote? I have a seat inside the courtroom for all six hours of arguments, so expect a full report on the proceedings, as well as a preview each morning of the question before the Court that day. For now, however, we’ll take a general look at the schedule, the questions, and the basic arguments each side will make, in preparation for Obamacare’s big day in court.

‘Mormon Factor’ Won’t Go Away With Romney

[PatriotUpdate.com]

March 25, 2012

Mitt Romney has a persisting Mormon problem. Less certain is whether this is limited to the Republican primaries or it’s a general-election worry, too.

“This nomination would be in the bag if it weren’t for the Mormon factor,” says John Geer, a professor of political science at Vanderbilt University who works on the intersection of religion and politics.

The exit polls from a plethora of primaries confirm that. Romney, a deeply devout leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, gets clobbered among white evangelicals and those who believe the religious views of a would-be president matter a great deal. This has caused him to lose a few primaries and denied him decisive wins in others.

Sometimes this hostility is openly articulated. Last year, Robert Jeffress, an evangelical leader who is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, called Mormonism a “cult,” and suggested Romney’s faith wouldn’t get him to heaven. It’s expressed by some rank-and-file conservatives, too. Scott Thomas, a Catholic and Rick Santorum supporter in Broomall, Pennsylvania, wondered if Romney, rather than President Barack Obama, “is the Antichrist.”

Paul Ryan: I‘d ’Consider’ a Vice Presidential Run

Paul Ryan: Id Consider a Vice Presidential Run

CBS – Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Sunday he “would consider” running in the vice presidential slot on the 2012 Republican ticket, though is “so focused” on his current job that it’s “not even” in his mind.

Ryan, chair of the House Budget Committee, unveiled a budget plan this week that has been praised by GOP presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney — and been dubbed the “Romney-Ryan budget” by top Obama administration adviser David Plouffe.

“I’m so focused on my job in Congress. If I wanted to be president or vice president so badly I would have run for president. I don’t — so I didn’t,” Ryan said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Still, Ryan wouldn’t entirely close the door on the No. 2 spot when pressed by host Norah O’Donnell.

“I would consider it but it’s not even something in my mind because it’s a decision someone else makes at a later time,” he said. “It’s a bridge I haven’t gotten close to having to cross so in the meantime I think it’s important to do my job.”

Bales charged with 17 counts of murder in massacre of Afghan villagers

Staff Sergeant Robert Bales(Photo) Defense Department – Aug. 23, 2011: Staff Sgt. Robert Bales is seen in this image from a military newsletter participating in a training exercise meant to simulate contact with local Afghan civilians.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was charged on Friday with 17 counts of premeditated murder, a capital offense that could lead to the death penalty in the massacre of Afghan civilians, the U.S. military said.

The 38-year-old soldier is accused of walking off a U.S. military base with his 9mm pistol and M-4 rifle, which was outfitted with a grenade launcher, before dawn on March 11, killing nine Afghan children and eight adults and burning some of the bodies. It was the worst allegation of civilian killings by an American and has severely strained U.S.-Afghan ties at a critical time in the decade-old war.

Will suspect face the death penalty?

Santorum Increases Lead in Louisiana

[Newsmax.com]

By Newsmax Wires

Mitt Romney is poised to suffer yet another blow in his march to the Republican presidential nomination this weekend in Louisiana, according new polls from Public Policy Polling and Rasmussen Reports.
A poll released Friday by Public Policy Polling shows Rick Santorum with a double-digit lead over Romney in Louisiana. Some 42 percent of the 650 likely Republican primary voters polled make Santorum their top choice. Mitt Romney is at 28 percent, with Newt Gingrich at 18 percent and Ron Paul at 8 percent. And the PPP poll has Santorum winning the support of voters who identify as “very conservative,” Tea Partiers, and evangelicals. Romney narrowly has the support, 37-33 percent, of voters living in urban areas. The PPP poll has a 3.8 percent margin of error.Another poll released Thursday by Rasmussen Reports gives Santorum a 12-percentage point lead over the former Massachusetts governor. The good news for Santorum came as the candidate tried to walk back comments on Thursday that President Obama might be a better choice than rival Romney. But if it’s not him, his campaign said Friday, Santorum will back whoever it is — and isn’t actually suggesting voters just stick with Obama.

Death threats leveled against Rush Limbaugh

[HumanEvents.com]

March 22, 2012 by John Hayward

(Original Post: March 7, 2012)

Dan Riehl at Breitbart.com hears the warm purr of liberal tolerance rumbling from the Left, which is growing somewhat vexed that radio host Rush Limbaugh hasn’t ceased to exist yet:

The death threats to Rush are captured in several screen grabs of his Facebook page. “Execute Rush, now!” states one; “Don’t just drop sponsorship someone kill this pig now please!!!!,” reads another. These and others are documented below, with images and names obscured, so as to not be guilty of fueling the same targeted hatred the White House and Democrats have now gone to great lengths to stoke.

[…] “I think karma got a death grip on breitbart, I think his passing is inspirational. Hopefully rush will die next,” reads another message directed at Limbaugh. Meanwhile, in comments posted at the L.A. Times Facebook wall, still undeleted as this article is written, readers state that it “would be nice to see that fat douche taken down but I’m not holding my breath”; “crossing fingers for a huge heart attack,” and so on.

Lovely people, aren’t they?  Well, at least they never, ever say rude things to women.  Just ask Michelle Malkin!

As Riehl notes, we’re watching a pressure cooker of Limbaugh hatred boil over, fueled by a level of political and media synergy conservatives can only marvel at.

In what appears to be overt coordination with the White House, the Democratic Party, and organizations such as Media Matters for America, the left has pressed home what it sees as a sudden political opportunity provided by Rush’s provocative reaction–despite his apology. The goal is not to protect women–who are frequently mocked by liberal talk show hosts without protest–but to force Rush, one of the most effective forces in conservative media, off the airwaves.

The Militarization Of America

The Militarization Of America

UPI FILE – A U.S. Marine crosses a bridge during a security patrol in Afghanistan.

America is a declining empire trying to resurrect itself through military intervention and armed occupation.

The more than $1 trillion decade with Iraq has finally ended. But neocon dreams of democracy for Iraq did not pan out. Iraq has a corrupt, shaky and ineffective government. Thousands of people continue to die in sectarian violence as Iraq wallows in a bloody civil war.

As for Afghanistan, most of the original terrorists in al-Qaida who planned 9/11 are either dead, in prison, on the run or holed up in Pakistan. Washington tells us that Pakistan is our most trusted Muslim ally, ignoring Peter Bergen’s 2011 New York Times bestseller The Longest War: The enduring conflict between America and al-Qaeda. Bergen writes that Pakistan has consistently been found to be “one of the most anti-American countries in the world.”

Media Matters’ David Brock

After facing down over a month of tough reporting, David Brock’s Media Matters still has nothing to say for itself. The progressive messaging group has all but clammed up under a constant barrage of scrutiny from conservatives and liberals alike.

It’s been a little over a month since The Daily Caller published the beginning of an investigative series examining the inner workings of Media Matters. The reporting, bolstered by first-hand knowledge from sources familiar with day-to-day activities in the group’s Washington, D.C. offices, revealed close coordination with the Obama White House, a slew of favored — and receptive — mainstream journalists, intense erratic behavior by Brock, an illegally-wielded Glock pistol carried by Brock’s assistant and consequence-free sex in the office’s media war room.

The Expanding Wealth Of Washington

Throughout the brutal and agonizingly long recession, only one large metropolitan area escaped largely unscathed: Washington, D.C. The city that wreaked economic disasters under two administrations last year grew faster in population than any major region in the country, up a remarkable 2.7 percent. The continued steady growth of the Texas cities, which dominated the growth charts over the past decade, pales by comparison.

Boom times in the capital — particularly amid a weak recovery elsewhere — are driving this growth. Since 2007, notes Stephen Fuller at George Mason University, the D.C. region’s economy has expanded 14 percent compared with a mere 3 percent for the rest of the country. Washington’s unemployment never scaled over 7 percent, well below the national average, and is now down to around 5.5 percent, about the lowest of any major metropolitan area. Unemployment of course is much higher, reaching 25 percent, in some of the district’s poorer neighborhoods.

Bristol Palin is waiting for a phone call from President Obama, the daughter of former Alaska President Obama writes on her new blog.

“Dear President Obama, You don’t know my telephone number, but I hope your staff is busy trying to find it,” she writes. “Ever since you called Sandra Fluke after Rush Limbaugh called her a slut, I figured I might be next.”

Palin explains:

Your $1,000,000 donor Bill Maher has said reprehensible things about my family.  He’s made fun of my brother because of his Down’s Syndrome. He’s said I was “f—-d so hard a baby fell out.”  (In a classy move, he did this while his producers put up the cover of my book, which tells about the forgiveness and redemption I’ve found in God after my past – very public — mistakes.)

The JOBS Act and the Maxine Waters Test

Key Senate Democrats do a job on small business startups that even Maxine Waters and Barney Frank support.

Call it the Maxine Waters test of political moderation. Late last week, this test was failed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), and Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Carl Levin (D-Mich.), and Jack Reed (D-R.I.).

They comprise, as Politico writes, “a chorus of Democratic senators… raising objections to a bill designed to help small businesses — throwing bumps in the road to passage of the legislation that had sailed through the GOP-led House and won President Barack Obama’s endorsement.” And this bill, the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act, also won the endorsement of 158 House Democrats who voted “aye” on Mar. 8, including Reps. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Maxine Waters (D-Calif.)

Frances Fox Piven: ‘Time for Another Surge From the Bottom’

[THIS SAUL ALINSKY PROGRESSIVE WANTS AMERICA TO BE DESTROYED! Stop her... we surround them!]

After predicting earlier this month that “we’ll see action” from the Occupy Wall Street movement in the spring, leftist professor and activist Frances Fox Piven said it’s “time for another surge from the bottom.”

Piven, making her comments in a video for the left-leaning magazine The Nation, said soaring inequality has always been the “default position” in America.

“In the absence of movements from below, of real trouble from below, in the absence of protests, American politics, electoral politics — despite the fact that so many people go out to vote — reverts to a position where big money is the dominating force, and when big money is the dominating force, regulations of business become impossible, or they are ignored, and that of course is what happened in the current period.”

North Korea vows to go ahead with planned rocket launch

PYONGYANG –  North Korea says it will go ahead with plans to launch an observation satellite into space and that criticism of it is provocative.

North Korea said Friday it would launch the satellite on a rocket next month. The U.S., South Korea and Japan condemn the plan as a disguised test of military missiles because the same type of rocket is used to launch long-range missiles.

Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency said Sunday such criticism is a “sinister” provocation by “hostile forces.”   It says North Korea has a right to peaceful development in space. The North says the hostile forces are “sadly mistaken” if they think it will cancel the launch plans.

GOP preps for budget battle with Democrats, Obama

[Townhall.com]

APNews

March 17, 2012

After a few months of relative peace on the budget front, Democrats and Republicans are readying for a party-defining, election-year fight over trillion dollar-plus deficits and what to do about them.

The focus in the week ahead will be on the conservative-dominated House, where the Budget Committee chairman, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is fashioning a sequel to last year’s “Path to Prosperity” manifesto that ignited a firestorm over Medicare.

The upcoming debate gives Republicans a chance to show how they would tackle out-of-control budget deficits and rein in the cost and scope of government. Those are top issues for the conservative supporters counted on by Republicans to turn out in large numbers in the fall to maintain the GOP’s control of the House.

Documents reveal bin Laden directive to kill Obama, Petraeus

Usama bin LadenAP – Usama bin Laden is seen in a 1998 file photo.

U.S. officials are reviewing documents that suggest Usama bin Laden before his death urged his Al Qaeda network to attack the aircraft of President Obama and Gen. David Petraeus, Fox News has confirmed.

The directive was first disclosed in a report last summer, after a CIA-led Navy SEALs team took down bin Laden at his Pakistan compound. The Washington Post, though, reported new details of that alleged plan Friday after viewing the documents.

According to the report, bin Laden wanted Obama killed so that an “unprepared” Vice President Biden would take over.

Federal Reserve Constitutionality Propaganda Taught To 8-12 Graders

I have written on the unconstitutionality of the Federal Reserve System before and how that fiat money is not to be printed by the federal government in any form. The Constitution is clear that only gold and silver coin is to be coined by the government. Those metals are the only metals they have authority to coin. Yet the propaganda machine of the Federal Reserve is now putting out it’s own educational propaganda material in order to teach 8-12 graders otherwise.

The lesson description begins,

The Constitution of the United States outlines the basic principles of the U.S. government. This lesson focuses on the express and implied powers of Congress and the power of the Supreme Court to decide whether a law is unconstitutional.

“It’s your moment of truth,” the ad declared.  “Will it be reproductive freedom, or back to the Dark Ages?  Do you choose women and their rights or Bishops and their wrongs?  Whose side are you on, anyway?”

Coming Soon: The Commercials that Obama Fears

[American Thinker]

March 14, 2012

By Ed Lasky

President Obama knows that every public statement he makes is recorded and lives forever on the internet.  That is cause for serious worry.  The best campaign ad to run against Obama is one that uses his own words — and those of the officials he has empowered — against him.  When it comes to high gasoline prices, this is a target-rich environment.

Two new polls show that Americans’ opinion of Barack Obama has taken a dive.  The Washington Post headline “Gas Prices sink Obama’s ratings on economy” zeroes in on the impact of high gas prices on his political prospects.  A New York Times/CBS poll released the same day shows a similar dramatic decline and states that Obama is heading into the general election on “treacherous political ground” and also chalks up at least part of the decline to much higher prices at the pump over the last few months.

High gas prices are a particular vulnerability of Obama’s since they affect so many people so many times a week — especially in those battleground states where people are forced to drive long distances.  Each of those signs is free advertising for the Republicans.  They can’t be explained away by Barack Obama’s friends in the media.

The Sharpton tapes: MSNBC’s hate-monger lets loose

Sharpton’s enablers at MSNBC have continued to look the other way at their resident hate-monger’s filth, while pretending to uphold impeccable standards of decency and civility.

Today, Jeffrey Lord at The American Spectator spotlights hair-raising tapes of Sharpton’s tirades involving “Chinamen,” “Greek homos,” and “n****rs.” Lord notes the collusion between Soros-funded, Rush Limbaugh-bashing Media Matters and MSNBC and adds:

Arizona sheriff finds Obama presidential qualifications forged

Arizona sheriff finds Obama presidential qualifications forged. 46772.jpeg

A singularly remarkable event has taken place in the United States of America. This event occurred in Arizona on March 1st and was an earth shattering revelation.

A long awaited press conference was given by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a five time elected Sheriff, which should have made national and international headlines. Arpaio’s credentials include serving in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953, service as a federal narcotics agent serving in countries all over the world with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and served as the head of the Arizona DEA. Without doubt, this is a serious Law Enforcement Officer, not one to be taken in by tin-foil-hat wearing loons.

Yet, in the five days since his revelations there has been little in the way of serious reporting on the findings he presented in his presser. With 6 short videos, the Sheriff and his team presented a devastating case, one the tame US press is apparently unable to report.

On April 27, 2011, President Barack walked into the White House Press room with a Cheshire cat like grin and a “Long Form Birth Certificate” from the State of Hawaii in hand.  From the podium in the press room, Mr. Obama said, “We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers,”. Quite the barb from a man holding a forged document.

That’s right, forged.

The president himself created the scene; one filled laughter from an adoring press corp., a scene of unprecedented fanfare while holding a forged document which was later posted on the White House website. This was the news Sheriff Arpaio revealed on March 1, 2012 in Arizona.

Arpaio asserts that his investigators discovered, during a 6 month long investigation which is ongoing, not only was the “Long Form” likely a digitally created forgery, but the presidents Selective Service Card (Draft Card), allegedly filed in 1980, was also a forgery. These documents are what Barack Hussein Obama relies upon to prove his constitutional eligibility to the office of President of the United States.
