The father of a U.S. Marine jailed in Mexico after being caught with his grandfather’s antique shotgun heard the fear in his son’s voice and felt helpless.

The phone call came at midnight from Mexico’s notorious CEDES prison, where Jon Hammar, Jr. has been held since August. The caller demanded $1,800, then put Hammar on to drive the point home.

“They’re serious, Dad,” Jon Hammar, Sr. heard his son say. “I’ll pay you back; they are going to kill me.”

Top US Companies Plan Layoffs Because of Obamacare

[Newsmax.com]

By Bill Hoffman

Nearly a dozen top United States companies plan to start laying off hundreds of employees with the implementation of Obamacare, according to the non-profit political action group FreedomWorks.
FreedomWorks compiled the list, reported in Friday’s Washington Times, from statements made by the firms since President Barack Obama’s healthcare mandate was passed.
The firms include:
  •  Welch Allyn — a manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment in central New York — which says it will cut 275 employees, about 10 percent of its workforce, over the next three years.
  •  Dana Holding Corp. — a global auto parts manufacturing company — which warned of layoffs due “$24 million over the next six years in additional U.S. healthcare expenses.’’
  •  Stryker — a medical device manufacturer — which plans to close its facility in Orchard Park, N.Y., eliminating 96 jobs in December. They also say they’ll slash 5 percent of their global workforce, about 1,170 positions.
  • Boston Scientific — a medical device manufacturer — said it plans to cut between 1,200 and 1,400 jobs, while shifting investments and workers overseas to China.
  • Medtronic — a medical device maker — which cut 500 positions over the summer, with 500 more set to be eliminated by the end of 2013.

Janet Napolitano Run Homeland Security Routinely Humiliated Male Staffers, James Hays Jr. Alleges in Suit

DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano (File)

The Department of Homeland Security is being slapped with a scathing federal discrimination suit, which accuses DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano of turning the agency into a woman-run “frat house” where male employees were regularly humiliated and even exiled to the bathrooms, the New York Daily News reports.

The suit was filed by James Hayes Jr., who is now the top Homeland Security official in the New York division. He argues Napolitano gave two of her female friends top positions in Washington, D.C. who then went on to torment male employees.

The women are identified as Dora Schriro, now head of the Department of Corrections in Washington, D.C., and Suzanne Barr, chief of staff for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Congressional Black Caucus Director: Opposition To Obama Is Racist [Really? MLK: Content of Character]

The Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus, Angela Rye, claims that Barack Obama’s first term has languished because of racially motivated opposition from conservatives who don’t like having a black president.

Appearing on CPAN, Rye said, “I think that a lot of what the president has experienced is because he’s black. You know, whether it’s questioning his intellect or whether or not he’s Ivy League,” she continued. It’s always either he’s not educated enough or he’s too educated; or he’s too black or he’s not black enough; he’s too Christian or not Christian enough. There are all these things where he has to walk this very fine line to even be successful.”

“There’s an ad, talking about the president is too cool, is he too cool? And there’s this music that reminds me of, you know, some of the blaxploitation films from the 70s playing in the background, him with his sunglasses,” Rye said. “And to me it was just very racially-charged. They weren’t asking if Bush was too cool, but, yet, people say that that’s the number one person they’d love to have a beer with. So, if that’s not cool I dont know what is.”

The director claims that she has no idea if black support and enthusiasm is lower since 2008. She also didn’t mention the Obama campaign’s own urban styled radio spot.

George Zimmerman: Prelude to a shooting [How the mainsteam media got it wrong]

[Reuters.com]

April 26, 2012

Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman leaves the Seminole County Jail after posting bail in Sanford, Florida, April 22, 2012. REUTERS-David Manning(Reuters) SANFORD, Florida – A pit bull named Big Boi began menacing George and Shellie Zimmerman in the fall of 2009.

The first time the dog ran free and cornered Shellie in their gated community in Sanford, Florida, George called the owner to complain. The second time, Big Boi frightened his mother-in-law’s dog. Zimmerman called Seminole County Animal Services and bought pepper spray. The third time he saw the dog on the loose, he called again. An officer came to the house, county records show.

“Don’t use pepper spray,” he told the Zimmermans, according to a friend. “It’ll take two or three seconds to take effect, but a quarter second for the dog to jump you,” he said.

“Get a gun.”

That November, the Zimmermans completed firearms training at a local lodge and received concealed-weapons gun permits. In early December, another source close to them told Reuters, the couple bought a pair of guns. George picked a Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm handgun, a popular, lightweight weapon.

Obama’s Incompetence May Fuel Racial Violence

UPI FILE
In 2009, President Barack Obama hosted the “Beer Summit” in the Rose Garden of the White House in what was touted as an attempt to improve race relations in the aftermath of the arrest of a black professor by a white police officer.

The election of Barack Obama was seen as a pivotal moment of the 21st century: an opportunity for America to be healed by a black President who embraced the ideals needed for a new America.

There was a comedy about ancient Rome titled “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” More recently, a funny thing happened on the way to the Oval Office. After the new President was anointed by the mass media and leading celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, America’s emperor was shown to be naked. Everyone on both sides of the racial divide has an opinion about why Obama is being attacked.

A great many African-Americans represented by the likes of the Reverend Jesse Jackson preach that white Americans refuse to show Obama the proper respect and go along with his programs simply because he is black. However, a great many white Americans, and maybe even right-minded people of all races, are angry at the President after he demonstrated his incompetence over the past three years. Tens of millions of Americans don’t like Obama not because he is black but because he has pushed America into the red.

Like the Elton John song, “I’ve Seen That Movie Too,” I saw it begin with the election of Pierre Elliot Trudeau, a francophone and constitutional lawyer who became a rock star north of America’s border in 1968.

Federal judge: For blacks, ‘voting rights’ include identifying Democrats on ballots

[DailyCaller.com]

Published: 1:42 PM 12/26/2011 | Updated: 12:04 AM 12/28/2011

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee (David Martosko/TheDC)

A U.S. District Court judge has rejected a challenge to Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 — filled when the Department of Justice barred the city of Kinston, N.C. from holding nonpartisan elections — reasoning that lack of access to party affiliation would discriminate against minority voters who otherwise wouldn’t know how to find Democratic candidates on a ballot.

The challenge was initiated after the Justice Department rejected a 2008 referendum vote in which the city of Kinston voted to stop listing candidates’ party affiliations on ballots.

Under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department must approve changes to election law in regions with a history, however distant, of racial discrimination.

The Justice Department prevented the 2008 referendum change, arguing in part that “the elimination of party affiliation on the ballot will likely reduce the ability of blacks to elect candidates of choice.”

An honors student in Fort Worth, Texas, was sent to the principal’s office and punished for telling a classmate that he believes homosexuality is wrong.

Holly Pope said she was “absolutely stunned” when she received a telephone call from an assistant principal at Western Hills High School informing her that her son, Dakota Ary, had been sent to in-school suspension.

Dakota was in a German class at the high school when the conversation shifted to religion and homosexuality in Germany. At some point during the conversation, he turned to a friend and said that he was a Christian and “being a homosexual is wrong.”

Limbaugh Defends West in Feud With Wasserman Schultz

By Tom O’Connell

Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh berated Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., for her accusations of sexism in the feud between her and her Republican counterpart in a neighboring Florida district, Rep. Allen West.

“Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz is deranged, folks,” Limbaugh said. “She is typical of today’s American left. They are deranged. We face a delusional enemy.”

Limbaugh said Wasserman Schultz defied House floor decorum during a legislative debate when she called out West for his proposed Medicare cuts. West responded with a fiery email to the lawmaker that called her “vile, unprofessional and despicable,” told her to “shut the heck up,” and said she was “not a lady.” The email has been widely circulated, and both sides are using the volleys to raise money.

“So what did [Wasserman Schultz] do? She ran like a little crybaby to all these other left wing women of the Democrat party to help her out, and they start returning fire that West is the racist and West is the sexist and so forth,” Limbaugh said.

A musician with ties to President Obama’s former controversial pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, will take center stage Wednesday night when Obama hosts a poetry ceremony at the White House featuring rapper and actor Common.

Common, a socially-conscious lyricist whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., has defended the retired pastor, and also has unleashed lyrical attacks on former President George W. Bush that have been criticized by conservatives.

Common is not known as a gangsta rapper, but some of his songs and poems feature violent imagery. In one poem, he called for the metaphorical burning of President George W. Bush — a “burning Bush.”

The White House did not return calls seeking comment for this story.

Valerie Jarrett: Obama is sleeping through his Presidency [Reader Post]

FloppingAces.net

By: DrJohn

January 3, 2011

Barack Obama and his gang think you’re an idiot. The sad part is that they are 43% right.

Byron York reports on Valerie Jarrett’s recent appearance on Meet the Press during which she made quite apparent that she and her boss really believe Americans are blatantly stupid. Jarrett shared this thought:

On “Meet the Press” December 26, top White House adviser Valerie Jarrett said President Obama’s “biggest regret” is that the severity of the economic crisis forced him to “spend almost every waking hour in Washington focusing very hard on solving that crisis” and thus kept him from traveling the country to connect with the American people.

Every waking hour. If Jarrett is to be taken seriously it means that Barack Obama has slept through a significant portion of the last two years. In addition, Obama says he needs to spend more time outside of Washington.

From amnesty to universal registration, Obama’s strategy for maintaining power

With tens of millions of Americas furious at Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi for unconstitutionally forcing socialized medicine down their throats, and with congressional Democrats in danger of massive electoral losses this November, one giant question looms large for Team Obama: How to stay in power despite plummeting voter support?

The answer to that question can be found in the groundbreaking March issue of Whistleblower magazine, titled “STEALING THE NEXT ELECTION.”

This game-changing special report is summarized in its long subtitle: “Amnesty, universal voter registration, felons voting, operatives planted: Team Obama’s strategy for maintaining permanent power.”

“The people currently running the show in Washington,” said Whistleblower Editor David Kupelian, “come from the radical leftist world of Saul Alinsky in which everything they do – no matter how unethical, corrupt and flat-out illegal – is morally justified if it advances their agenda. Winning votes and elections by any means possible is their stock in trade.”

“STEALING THE NEXT ELECTION” surveys the various stratagems the far left is currently developing to consolidate power in the U.S. long-term. The list includes:

Universal voter registration: Now being secretly prepared by at least two prominent members of Congress, this is essentially a scheme to legalize voter fraud by shifting responsibility for registering to vote from the citizen to the government, meaning people are automatically registered to vote, based on DMV records, income-tax returns, welfare rolls, unemployment lists and other government databases.

Illegal immigrant registration: Since government databases contain names of non-citizens, not to mention mentally incompetent individuals and felons – factors that would ordinarily disqualify a person from voting in most states – universal registration would open the floodgates to fraud. And since many people own property in more than one location and pay taxes to numerous government entities, they would be afforded the opportunity to vote in multiple locations.

Amnesty: Disguised once again by euphemisms like “comprehensive immigration reform,” amnesty will create millions of new Democrat voters. As Obama adviser and SEIU executive vice president Eliseo Medina said recently regarding amnesty: “Can you imagine 8 million new voters who care about our issues and will be voting? We will be creating a governing coalition for the long term, not just for an election cycle.”

Convicted felons voting: The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals late last year cleared the way for inmates to vote from prison. The court overturned a Washington state law prohibiting felons from voting until they are released and off parole, arguing state restrictions unfairly penalized minorities since they have a higher incarceration rate. Polls show felons overwhelmingly prefer Democrats.

DOJ sources tell WaPo: Yes, racial politics are being played in the Civil Rights Division

A blockbuster, Breitbart calls it. Remember J. Christian Adams and the New Black Panther Party voting rights case? Thanks to Adams, the DOJ pursued a civil action against two Panther members for intimidating voters outside a polling place in Philly in 2008. The Panthers didn’t contest it and the DOJ won a permanent injunction — only to then drop the charges, seemingly inexplicably. Adams and a colleague claimed that the Department backed off because they didn’t want to pursue voting rights actions against minority defendants. DOJ higher-ups denied it. The Civil Rights Commission started investigating, and they eventually started splitting over what happened too.

Finally, at long last, WaPo decided to try to figure out what happened. Who’s right? Adams in asserting that there’s institutional resistance to using voting rights laws — which were, after all, passed in response to white abuses against blacks — against minority defendants? Or the higher-ups in insisting that the Panther case had nothing to do with race but merely with weak evidence? WaPo’s verdict:
