On Thursday, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback received a letter from Federal Attorney General Eric Holder threatening action against the state should it enforce SB102 which Brownback signed into law last month.

The new law states, Any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the government of the United States which violates the second amendment to the constitution of the United States is null, void and unenforceable in the state of Kansas

The bill also provides for criminal penalties against federal agents who attempt to enforce specific federal laws on guns manufactured in the state of Kansas and sold within the state – as the state takes the position under the new law that the federal government does not “interstate commerce” authority over such items.
In his letter, Holder didn’t take too kindly to such a proposition.

Vet Abused, Disarmed By Cops Because ‘Polite’ Constitution Has No Place For Rights

In 2003, while serving in Iraq, then-1st Sgt. C.J. Grisham, left, and his interpreter handed out candy to children while touring Fallujah.

You have the right to bear arms — still relatively un-infringed in some States — unless, of course, agents of the state deem you are doing so in an impolite manner. A decorated veteran who was on a 10-mile hike with his 15-year-old son was illegally disarmed and arrested on a Texas county road for “rudely displaying a firearm.”

FOX News’ Todd Starnes reports that Army Master Sgt. C.J. Grisham was confronted and illegally disarmed of his AR-15 and .45 caliber pistol by the Temple Police Department, despite having the proper permits to publicly carry the weapons. The incident happened as the man and his son were hiking in a rural area known to be home to wild boars and cougars.

Grisham, who describes himself as a serious Constitutionalist and also recently gained notoriety for a blog post criticizing the President, maintains that he has no idea what caused officers to treat him in the manner in which they did.

Conservatives confident federal gun measures will be scaled back

OXON HILL, Md. – Conservatives are all but declaring victory on their defense of gun rights, exuding confidence as calls for aggressive controls in the wake of the Newtown elementary school massacre have given way to scaled-back expectations to firearm restrictions in Congress.

“They can call me crazy and whatever else they want, but NRA’s nearly 5 million members and America’s 100 million gun owners will not back down — not now, not ever,” an emboldened Wayne LaPierre, the CEO and executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, told conservatives gathered at an annual conference. He pointedly ignored President Barack Obama’s most restrictive proposals in his speech, using it instead to assail the one that has the potential of getting approved — a near-universal background check for gun owners.

Dianne Feinstein Battles Ted Cruz in Heated Senate Showdown Over Guns: ‘I’m Not a 6th Grader’

Sens. Dianne Feinstein & Ted Cruz Testy Senate Judicial Hearing Exchange

Senators Ted Cruz and Dianne Feinstein during a Senate Judiciary Hearing on Thursday got into heated exchange while discussing the California congresswoman’s proposed ban on so-called “assault” weapons.

“The question that I would pose to the senior senator from California is,” Cruz said, referring to Feinstein, “Would she deem it consistent with the Bill of Rights for Congress to engage in the same endeavor that we are contemplating doing with the Second Amendment in the context of the First or Fourth Amendment, namely, would she consider it constitutional for Congress to specify that the First Amendment shall apply only to the following books and shall not apply to the books that Congress has deemed outside the protection of the Bill of Rights?”

“Likewise, would she think that the Fourth Amendment’s protection against searches and seizures could properly apply only to the following specified individuals and not to the individuals that Congress has deemed outside the protection of the Bill of Rights?” he added.

Apparently, Sen. Feinstein was not amused with the Texas senator’s line of questioning.

A show in White Plains, N.Y., — brought back a few years ago after being called off for a decade because of the Columbine shooting — is off because officials decided it didn’t seem appropriate now, either. In Danbury, Conn. — about 10 miles west of Newtown — the venue backed out. Same with three other shows in New York’s Hudson Valley, according to the organizer.

CNN Throws Liberal Smears and Talking Points at NRA

[Newsbusters.org]

By Matt Hadro | December 27, 2012

CNN’s Carol Costello threw ugly smears and liberal talking points at the NRA’s president David Keene on Thursday. Keene repeatedly had to deflect criticisms that the NRA is out of touch with most Americans during a lengthy 15-minute grilling.

Costello resorted to sharing smears of the NRA from her Facebook page. “And many, many comments said, ‘Why is the NRA crazy? Why are they, like, out of touch with reality?’ A lot of people said – why do you think that people say those things about the NRA?” she asked Keene. [Video below the break. Audio here.]

Costello also quoted GOP pollster Frank Luntz smacking the NRA as out of touch. She described Luntz “as conservative as you can get,” even though he also polled for the anti-gun Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Michigan Dem on right-to-work law: There will be blood

By: John Hayward

michigan-snyder-right-to-work-unions-425As protests against Michigan’s right-to-work laws swelled, pro-union Democrat legislator Douglas Geiss took to the state House floor – and Twitter – to promise violence.  “We are going to undo 100 years of labor relations,” said Geiss.  “And there will be blood. We will relive the Battle of the Overpass.”

The Battle of the Overpass was a 1937 clash between the United Auto Workers and security troops for the Ford Motor Company, in which dozens of union activists were beaten up.  It has long been considered one of the worst examples of corporate-stooge union busting.  Geiss is pulling the neat trick of threatening violence while casting his side as the victims.  Or, if you prefer another interpretation, he’s casting the right-to-work law as an act of “violence” against unions, which justifies whatever they choose to do when they “fight back.”

Union forces have already gotten frisky, storming the tent erected by right-to-work supporters Americans for Prosperity of Michigan and tearing it down.  Fortunately, no injuries from the attack were reported.

Supreme Court orders new look at Liberty University’s health care challenge

[FoxNews.com]

Associated Press

Published November 26, 2012

The Supreme Court has revived a Christian college’s challenge to President Obama’s health care overhaul.

The court on Monday ordered the federal appeals court in Richmond, Va., to consider the claim by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., that Obama’s health care law violates the school’s religious freedoms.

A federal district judge rejected Liberty’s claims, and the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the lawsuit was premature and never dealt with the substance of the school’s arguments. The Supreme Court upheld the health care law in June.

The justices used lawsuits filed by 26 states and the National Federation of Independent Business to uphold the health care law by a 5-4 vote, then rejected all other pending appeals, including Liberty’s.

The school made a new filing with the court over the summer to argue that its claims should be fully evaluated in light of the high court decision. The administration said it did not oppose Liberty’s request.

‘When Obama Goes to Hell,’ GOP Official Says, He’ll Claim ‘This Is All Bush’s Fault’

[Newsbusters.org]

By Randy Hall | November 21, 2012

Here’s another sterling example of the premise that liberals have no sense of humor.

Virginia Republican Official Bob FitzSimmonds had no idea what was going to happen when he stated in a Facebook posting on Wednesday that “When Obama is 90 years old and he dies and goes to Hell, he is going to say ‘This is all Bush’s fault’!”

Of course, members of the GOP instantly recognized the post as a joke referring to the claim often made by the president and his fellow Democrats that everything bad that happened during Obama’s first term was the fault of the previous occupant of the White House, Republican George W. Bush.

As you might expect, the comment drew heated responses from both sides of the political aisle on that social networking site.

Ben Marchi said that the remark was “completely inappropriate” even when made in jest, and Karen Hand Mason noted that whether or not Obama goes to Hell is “God’s decision.”

“This is a good example of how far our country has gone,” wrote Muneer Baig. “People have been so blinded by politics that they are treating themselves as Gods and passing judgment over others.

“May God help us and our country and help us to see beyond the fake walls we have ourselves created around us,” he added.

US officials knew Libya attack was terrorism within 24 hours, sources confirm

[FoxNews.com]

Published September 27, 2012

U.S. intelligence officials knew within 24 hours of the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya that it was a terrorist attack and suspected Al Qaeda-tied elements were involved, sources told Fox News — though it took the administration a week to acknowledge it.

The account sharply conflicts with claims on the Sunday after the attack by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice that the administration believed the strike was a “spontaneous” event triggered by protests in Egypt over an anti-Islam film.

Two senior U.S. officials said that the Obama administration internally labeled the attack terrorism from the first day in order to unlock and mobilize certain resources to respond, and that officials were looking for one specific suspect. The officials said the intelligence community knew by Sept. 12 that the militant Ansar al-Shariah and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb were likely behind the strike.

Further, an official said, “No one … believed that the mortars, indirect and direct fire, and the RPGs were just the work of a mob — no one.”

Yet a congressional source told Fox News that CIA Director David Petraeus, during a briefing with members of the House Intelligence Committee three days after the attack, espoused the view that Benghazi was an out-of-control demonstration prompted by the YouTube video. According to the source, this was “shocking” to some members who were present and saw the same intelligence pointing toward a terrorist attack.

Mr. Priebus answered the question fully for TheBlaze, and delivered one of the classic lines from the convention today:

No-bama 2012: Young voters fed up with economy

‘Millennials have concluded government intervention is the problem, not the solution’

August 17, 2012

by Drew Zahn

Young voters – the ones who so notably turned out for Barack Obama in 2008 – are fed up with being unemployed, and many are beginning to turn against the president’s big-government solutions to America’s economic woes.

One group tracking this turnaround is Generation Opportunity, or GO, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that seeks to mobilize Americans aged 18-29 toward “real solutions” to joblessness and the flailing economy.

GO boasted this past week that its family of Facebook pages – with names like “We Like Small Government” and “Gas Prices Are too D— High” – have topped over 4 million “likes” and growing, fueled by a young demographic that polls show is increasingly disillusioned with Obama’s economic policies.

CBS’s Glor Calls Out David Axelrod For His ‘Extreme’ Attack on Romney

[Newsbusters.org]

By Matthew Balan | July 06, 2012

Matthew Balan's picture

CBS’s Jeff Glor confronted David Axelrod on Friday’s CBS This Morning over his most recent attack on presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney: “You said that Mitt Romney was the most secretive candidate since Richard Nixon….I think that would strike a lot of people as extreme. Do you stand by those comments?

Glor also pressed Axelrod on the Obama campaign’s “outsourcer-in-chief” attack ads on Romney: “Fact Check, as you know, looked at this, found no evidence that Mitt Romney, while he was still running Bain Capital shipped American jobs overseas. Is it fair to keep those ads on the air?

Jeff Glor, CBS News Anchor | NewsBusters.orgThe journalist, along with anchor Erica Hill, interviewed the Democratic presidential campaign senior adviser eight minutes into the 7 am Eastern hour. Hill also played a little hardball with her guest in her lead question: “We just heard…the President charging Mitt Romney with playing politics over use of the word ‘tax,’ when it comes to the mandate. The President, of course, adamantly denied that it was a tax in 2009, when he was trying to sell this. The Supreme Court says otherwise. How do you reconcile that now as you try sell a tax to the American people?

When Axelrod answered, in part, that “whatever you call it – whether you call it a mandate, whether you call it a tax – what it is is a penalty” and attacked Romney for “folding” to “Rush [Limbaugh] and the right and the guys in the Republican caucus on Capitol Hill,” the CBS anchor took him to task: “But if you say it doesn’t matter, the word that you use, then why does it matter if he [Romney] switches words, to your point?

Glor stepped in once the Obama campaign official answered Hill’s follow-up. He lead with his hardball question on the “outsourcer-in-chief’ attack, and concluded the segment with his challenge to Axelrod. The Democratic pundit got almost a minute and a half to defend his “extreme” attack:

GLOR: David, you keep calling Mitt Romney the ‘outsourcer-in-chief’. We heard what the President said on the trail, indicating that he sent jobs overseas. Fact Check, as you know, looked at this, found no evidence that Mitt Romney, while he was still running Bain Capital shipped American jobs overseas. Is it fair to keep those ads on the air?

Conservative Radio Host Mark Levin Takes To Fox News To Argue That Federal Judges Need Term Limits

[Mediaite.com]

by Jon Bershad | 4:04 pm, July 3rd, 2012

The Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act was about a bazillion years ago. However, some people are still angry about it. Shockingly (SHOCKINGLY!!!), the man who once wrote a book called Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America is one of them. That man, of course, is conservative radio host Mark Levin. Levin is furious at the recent CBS News report that Chief Justice John Roberts may have been swayed by the media. Levin is so furious at this kind of media tomfoolery that he went on Fox News (where’s he’s appeared a few times the past couple days) and called for Roberts to lose his job.

Shockingly (SHOCKINGLY!!!), it would appear that some media pressure is better than others.

Levin called in to talk to Megyn Kelly to lash out at Roberts and the Supreme Court. He began by mocking conservatives who were attempting to see a “silver lining” in the ruling, claiming that they were “blinded by their silliness.” He then argued that it was time to instate term limits for federal judges.

“What we lack, Megyn, in too many public officials — and that would included judges and justices, not all but too many — is virtue, integrity, prudence. And, over time, they become cynical, they become deceitful, and their view of our constitutional system collapses. And one way to try to address this is to ensure that there’s more opportunity for other great people, brilliant lawyers, judges, and so forth to step up to the plate and have an honest opportunity to participate in the governance of this country.”

Cocky, Condescending Journalists Declared ObamaCare Would Be Upheld, Maybe by a 8-1 Vote

[Newsbusters.org]

By Scott Whitlock | June 27, 2012 | 22:48

Scott Whitlock's picture

Although no one knows how the Supreme Court will rule, Thursday, on ObamaCare, journalists over the past few months have dismissed and derided the concept that the President’s signature legislation could be declared unconstitutional. CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin predicted an eight-to-one vote upholding the law. Former New York Times Court reporter Linda Greenhouse said that Americans who think the law is unconstitutional are “wrong.”

Appearing on the March 23 Situation Room, Toobin hyped, “I actually think that Chief Justice Roberts and perhaps even Justice Scalia and Justice Alito might join Justice Kennedy in upholding the law.” He added, “In striking this law down, it would really be a big change in constitutional law, and I’m not sure this court is ready to do it.”

On March 19, Toobin appeared on Starting Point and rejected the anti-ObamaCare argument as  “weak”:

ANCHOR SOLEDAD O’BRIEN: So the bottom line is, is making people buy health insurance a legitimate use of the power of Congress?

JEFFREY TOOBIN: Correct, and the challengers in these laws have said, ‘No, this is not something Congress can do.’ What I wrote in The New Yorker this week, what I think is that basically that is a really weak argument, in that the United States Congress has been regulating health care for years, has been involved in this market for years, and this is a perfectly ordinary use of Congress’s power.

(Once he heard oral arguments, Toobin reversed himself. The journalist declared the Obama position a “train wreck” and suggested it would be shot down.)

Congressional Black Caucus Director: Opposition To Obama Is Racist [Really? MLK: Content of Character]

The Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus, Angela Rye, claims that Barack Obama’s first term has languished because of racially motivated opposition from conservatives who don’t like having a black president.

Appearing on CPAN, Rye said, “I think that a lot of what the president has experienced is because he’s black. You know, whether it’s questioning his intellect or whether or not he’s Ivy League,” she continued. It’s always either he’s not educated enough or he’s too educated; or he’s too black or he’s not black enough; he’s too Christian or not Christian enough. There are all these things where he has to walk this very fine line to even be successful.”

“There’s an ad, talking about the president is too cool, is he too cool? And there’s this music that reminds me of, you know, some of the blaxploitation films from the 70s playing in the background, him with his sunglasses,” Rye said. “And to me it was just very racially-charged. They weren’t asking if Bush was too cool, but, yet, people say that that’s the number one person they’d love to have a beer with. So, if that’s not cool I dont know what is.”

The director claims that she has no idea if black support and enthusiasm is lower since 2008. She also didn’t mention the Obama campaign’s own urban styled radio spot.

Mayor Bloomberg’s Sweet Sugary Nanny State

[Cato@Liberty]

Posted by David Boaz – May 31, 2012

“A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down,” sang a legendary nanny. But today’s most powerful nanny, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, won’t tolerate that. He plans to ban the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, movie theaters, and even street carts, the New York Times reports.

Mayor Bloomberg has lots of facts at his fingertips: Many Americans are overweight. Consumption of sugar can cause weight gain. All true, and a good reason for Mike Bloomberg to watch his diet.

But why should he watch MY diet? And the diets of 8 million New Yorkers, most of them adults? If he thinks New Yorkers should consume less sugar, let him hold a press conference. But giving people information isn’t good enough for him. Sometimes he gives people information, and they still don’t act the way he thinks they should. So what’s a billionaire mayor to do? He could bribe them, I suppose. But as Otter said, that could take years and cost millions of lives. Well, millions of dollars anyway. So, like Otter, he’s decided to go with “a really futile and stupid gesture” instead.

Obama Pursues Higher Tax Rates, Growth Be Damned

[Townhall.com]

May 21, 2012

In the run-up to this weekend’s G-8 summit at Camp David, journalists have unfavorably compared European “austerity” with Barack Obama’s economic policies.

European spending cuts, the argument goes, have hurt people and are arousing political opposition, while Obama’s proposals to keep federal spending at 24 percent of gross domestic product indefinitely are likely to succeed.

Evil Republican spending cuts, in contrast, would deny the economy needed stimulus and wreak havoc on ordinary people. But the facts undermine the storyline. Veronique de Rugy of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University took a look at what “austerity” in Europe actually means.

Protection of chaplains introduced as amendment to defense authorization bill

May 08,2012

The House Armed Services Committee will have a chance later this week to consider a measure that would protect freedom of conscience for military chaplains in the wake of the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), Chairman of the HASC Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, introduced an amendment to the FY 2013 National Defense Authorization Act that would protect military chaplains and all service members, he said, from “persecution based on their religious beliefs.”

Earlier this month, Human Events wrote about a bill introduced in January by Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) that would explicitly allow military chaplains to preach and practice their faith without fear of professional reprisal, following the repeal of a longstanding ban on gay troops serving openly, and reports that chaplains with moral opposition to homosexuality were experiencing pressure to stay silent about their beliefs.

The bill, which would also prohibit base chapels from being used for same-sex marriage services, has picked up four sponsors since the article was published April 30 and now stands at 49, but has languished in committee since January.

Isaiah 9:10 ‘most important discovery of decade’

[WND.com EXCLUSIVE]

‘It is a wakeup call that we can only ignore at our own peril’

Posted: May 07, 2012

By Michael Bresciani

In 1970, many churches were not regularly taught the doctrine of the second coming of Christ, more commonly known as premillennial prophecy. Then along came Hal Lindsey’s blockbuster bestseller, “The Late Great Planet Earth.”

The nation and the world were catapulted into a revival of knowledge that even the Prophet Daniel proclaimed would not be well known or revealed until the last days. A few great works have been added to Lindsey’s book and those who had only Clarence Larkin’s 1918 version of “Dispensational Truth” were reinvigorated to begin again to start studying the subject of eschatology. (The last things)

Now certain signs have been fulfilled in this generation that make it impossible to miss that the generation Jesus spoke of as the one sure to precede the second coming of Christ, is as the Bible says, “at hand.”

Of all the latest signs and the greatest teachings and discoveries about Christ’s imminent return in power that have graced this generation, none is more specific to America than the parallel Israel and America share in the passages of Isaiah 9: 10 and following.

EPA’s Plans for Implementing UN’s Agenda 21

One of the most successful grassroots campaigns during the past year has been the Stop Agenda 21 movement both at the local level and state level. However, we haven’t heard as much about Agenda 21 implementation at the national level.

Of course, there were President Bill Clinton’s establishment of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development by executive order in 1993 and President Obama’s “Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance” executive order in 2009. And, many federal agencies have been incorporating sustainability into various aspects of their organizations. Still, virtually all Stop Agenda 21 grassroots activity has been focused on the local and state levels.

The establishment of Clinton’s President’s Council on Sustainable Development (PCSD) started a pattern of denial by federal government agencies regarding any connection with the United Nations Agenda 21. Even though the PCSD was clearly established in 1993 in support of the UN’s Agenda 21 and its Sustainable Development proposals from the UN’s ’92 Earth Summit in Rio, the PCSD’s statements and documents never referred to the UN and Agenda 21.

We have evidence that federal officials were taking pains to make the PCSD appear to be completely separate from the UN’s Agenda 21 because J. Gary Lawrence, an advisor to the PCSD, said the following in 1998:

First Signs of a Real Obama Backlash?

[PJMedia.com]

By Brian Preston

April 26, 2012

In the past few weeks, Americans have learned just how wasteful that obscure and well regarded government agencies can be. From the GSA’s lavish spending to send interns to Palm Springs, to the Secret Service’s hooker ho-downs in Third World Countries, from the oppressive TSA to the crucifying EPA, government is increasingly becoming more than just the enemy of small government advocates. If you run a business, fly anywhere, own a farm or just want to be free, big government has become a big enemy, period.

Barack Obama, meanwhile, is oblivious to all this. He keeps on pushing government as the be all end all solution to everything. A new poll out suggests that this attitude is going to catch up with him.

Today, just one in three has a favorable view of the federal government — the lowest level in 15 years, according to a Pew survey. The majority of Americans remain satisfied with their local and state governments — 61 percent and 52 percent, respectively — but only 33 percent feel likewise about the federal government.

In 2002, nearly double that figure, 64 percent, viewed the federal government favorably, and Americans held their local and state governments in similar esteem, at 67 percent and 62 percent, respectively.

There’s the expected partisan gap: A majority of Democrats, 51 percent, view the Obama-led government favorably, compared to 27 percent of independents and 20 percent of Republicans. During the Bush presidency, a majority of Republicans viewed the federal government favorably, while support for it faded among Democrats.

Family Misses Flight after TSA Gives Pat-Down to 7-Year-Old — with Cerebral Palsy!

[PatriotUpdate.com]

The Transportation Security Administration is once again the subject of national scrutiny, this time after aggressively screening a 7-year-old female passenger with cerebral palsy which caused her family to miss their flight.

The girl, identified as Dina Frank in a report by The Daily, was waiting with her family on Monday to board a flight departing from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York headed to Florida.

Since Dina walks with the aid of leg braces and crutches, she cannot pass through airport metal detectors, and must instead submit to a pat-down by TSA agents.

Dina, who is also reportedly developmentally disabled, is usually frightened by the procedure. Her family reportedly requests that agents on hand take the time to introduce themselves to her.

However, the agents on duty at the time began to handle her aggressively instead.
