Obama in 2006: ‘I’ve Had Enough of Using Terrorism as a Wedge Issue in Our Politics’

(CNSNews.com) – Speaking in Iowa in 2006, Sen. Barack Obama said, “I’ve had enough of using terrorism as a wedge issue in our politics.” He said the war on terrorism “isn’t supposed to crop up between September and November of even-numbered years.”

But as president, Obama and his reelection campaign have consistently raised the issue — repeatedly referring to a 2007 comment by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to suggest that Romney would not have ordered the killing of Osama bin Laden as Obama did one year ago.

Obama’s deceptive bodyguard

[DailyCaller.com]

By Neil Munro – The Daily Caller

Photo: AP -White House spokesman Jay Carney said Friday that he doesn’t lie.

But his office did lie on Monday for national security reasons.

On Monday evening the White House’s press office distributed a fake Tuesday schedule for the president. The deceptive document went to the White House press corps, and to the many other media outlets and non-media groups that track the president’s schedule.

“In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of Defense [Leon] Panetta in the Oval Office,” said the 6:31 p.m. email, titled “Daily Guidance and press schedule for Tuesday, May 1, 2012.” The guidance also announced that Jay Carney, the president’s press secretary, would give a press briefing at 3 p.m.

Documents reveal bin Laden directive to kill Obama, Petraeus

[FoxNews.com]

Published March 16, 2012

Usama bin LadenAP – Usama bin Laden is seen in a 1998 file photo.

U.S. officials are reviewing documents that suggest Usama bin Laden before his death urged his Al Qaeda network to attack the aircraft of President Obama and Gen. David Petraeus, Fox News has confirmed.

The directive was first disclosed in a report last summer, after a CIA-led Navy SEALs team took down bin Laden at his Pakistan compound. The Washington Post, though, reported new details of that alleged plan Friday after viewing the documents.

According to the report, bin Laden wanted Obama killed so that an “unprepared” Vice President Biden would take over.

Terrific: Islamists hold funeral for Bin Laden in London

Knowing who it was who organized this thing, I feel like a sucker for even deigning to write about it.

Hundreds of Osama bin Laden supporters clashed with English Defence League extremists today as a “funeral service” for the assassinated terror leader sparked fury outside London’s US Embassy…

US leaders were branded “murderers” by radicals, who warned vengeance attacks were “guaranteed” and shouted: “USA, you will pay.”…

It was organised by controversial preacher Anjem Choudary, who told reporters after the ‘service’ that America had created a new generation of Islamic terrorists.

He said: “There will be one million Osamas. Muslims will remember Osama as a great man who stood up against Satan. Many will want to emulate his acts.

“In Britain we have other options – like political action, but in other countries if your land is attacked or your family are put at risk you must defend yourself.

In the Left’s Rush to Politicize Bin Laden They Overlook Their Hypocrisy

Here’s the interesting quandary: the left, including our President, has railed against “enhanced interrogation techniques” for years. Obama even moved to prosecute those who engaged in using such techniques to extract pertinent information from terrorist detainees:

President Barack Obama left the door open Tuesday to prosecuting Bush administration officials who devised the legal authority for gruesome terrorism-suspect interrogations, saying the United States lost “our moral bearings” with use of the tactics.

The question of whether to bring charges against those who devised justification for the methods “is going to be more of a decision for the attorney general within the parameters of various laws and I don’t want to prejudge that,” Obama said.

Said the President previously on interrogation:

“We must send a message to the world that America is a nation of laws, and a nation that stands against torture. As President I will abide by statutory prohibitions, and have the Army Field Manual govern interrogation techniques for all United States Government personnel and contractors.”

So now the President must find himself in a difficult position, after railing so hard against interrogation techniques for so long, he can’t claim victory for bin Laden’s death without ceding a major part of that victory to the techniques he opposed which were curated under his predecessor.
