‘We Don’t Have Capitalism’: Glenn Beck, Richard Duncan and Art Laffer Break Down The Economic Crisis

[TheBlaze.com]

Glenn Beck hosted an unusual show on Tuesday night, devoting large segments of the program not to personal sermonizing, but instead to hearing from two different experts with very different takes on the economy. Those two experts were economists Art Laffer and Richard Duncan, who managed to both take a very pessimistic view of where the economy currently is, while also offering diametrically opposed suggestions for how to improve it.

Broadly speaking, Duncan approached the issue from the Left, while Laffer approached it from the Right. However, those two descriptions don’t actually do the full clash of ideologies justice. Duncan argued that the choice of options for the United States government was threefold, and that policymakers could either 1) Revert to a balanced budget, which would contract the economy all the way into a depression, 2) Keep spending at the current rates and go bankrupt and hit a recession in 5-10 years, or 3) Keep spending at current rates, but use the money to invest in up-and-coming technology, rather than to pay off cronies or create shovel-ready jobs. Duncan favored the third approach, as you’ll see in the following video:

AMERICAN PEOPLE: FOREIGNERS IN OUR OWN LAND

[LibertyNewsOnline.com]

June 6, 2012

By: Darren Weeks – NewsWithViews.com

I’ve been watching for years as the United States has moved further down the road toward a system that embraces and resembles communism, but all the while, also possesses the characteristics of a corporate fascist state.

Stories of Chinese communist espionage penetrating U.S. military bases, laboratories, and academic institutions have been plentiful, as the People’s Liberation Army has sought to steal any sensitive information that could be used to improve China’s military surveillance and weapons systems.

The Cox Report to Congress dealt with many of those issues. Formally titled, U.S. National Security and Military/Commercial Concerns with the People’s Republic of China, this partially-classified report was released in January 1999. Despite the concerns outlined in the Cox Report, the situation has only worsened. Even more frightening, is the now undeniable complicity of those within federal, state, and city governments at opening up the U.S. — our economy, our infrastructure, our businesses, and our neighborhoods — to the People’s Republic of China.

Senate candidate who ousted Lugar credits Tea Party, as Dems pounce

[FoxNews.com]

Published May 09, 2012

The conservative challenger who ousted longtime Republican Sen. Richard Lugar in the Indiana primary Tuesday is pointing to his victory as a sign the Tea Party is alive and well — as Democrats pounce on the win to argue the GOP is once again taking an “extremist” turn.

State Treasurer Richard Mourdock crushed Lugar, who has held his seat since 1977, by more than 20 percentage points. The frustration of defeat showed overnight, as Lugar criticized Mourdock’s “unrelenting partisan mindset.”

Mourdock, in an interview with Fox News Wednesday morning, said Lugar is “in my thoughts.”

“He is a great American, a historic figure,” Mourdock said, adding that his margin of victory must be “difficult” for Lugar.

But, he said, “it’s time to move forward,” and was unapologetic about the hard-charging race he ran and his vision for a strong conservative majority across Washington. In pointing to his win, he rejected the idea that the Tea Party is moving toward irrelevance.

IS PROGRESSIVISM THE NEW COMMUNISM?

[LibertyNewsOnline.com]

April 19, 2012 – by Susan Brown
In politics, truth-telling can get you into trouble, even if you stumble upon it by accident. Just ask Rep. Allen West (R-FL).

West is feeling the heat for a pregnant pause he took during a town hall meeting after he was asked “What percentage of the American legislature do you think are card-carrying Marxists or International Socialists?”

“It’s a good question,” West responded, “I believe there’s [sic] about 78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party who are members of the Communist Party. (Long pause) “They don’t actually hide. It’s called the Congressional Progressive Caucus.” The left became unhinged.

Obviously West touched a nerve; before long, members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) drafted their response: “Calling fellow Members of Congress ‘Communists’ is reminiscent of the days when Joe McCarthy divided Americans with name-calling and modern-day witch hunts that don’t advance policies to benefit people’s lives…”

The CPC’s response is just another sign of the political times we live in. But something about their argument doesn’t pass the “smell test.”

While there may not be large numbers of card-carrying communists lining the halls of Congress, there is a clear tie between the Democratic Party’s Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), Communist Party USA (CPUSA), and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

Man Interrupts Elizabeth Warren Town Hall: ‘You’re a Socialist Whore’

[TheBlaze.com]

Just moments into a speech before volunteers in Massachusetts Wednesday, senate candidate Elizabeth Warren was heckled by a member of the audience. The man told Warren that if she is in fact the “intellectual creator” of the Occupy movement, then she is a “socialist whore.”

The man, who claimed to be out of work since February 2010, blasted Warren for her support of Occupy and asserted that the Tea Party has been protesting Wall Street excess for far longer than OWS has.

Before the gender-based epithet was used, Warren told the man she was “very sorry” that he has been unemployed for so long and then suggested his situation would have improved if the “recent jobs bill” had been passed in the Senate.

“I‘m very sorry that you’ve been out of work,” Warren told the man. “I‘m also very sorry that the recent jobs bill that would’ve brought 22,000 jobs to Massachusetts did not pass in the Senate.”

The Huffington Post adds:

Speaking in a packed VFW hall, Warren went on to address his question about her association with Occupy Wall Street. “I‘ve been protesting what’s been going on on Wall Street for a very long time,” she said, but added that the movement has its own independent agenda and will proceed along its own course.

House Republicans Request Special Counsel to Probe Holder on ‘Fast and Furious’

[FoxNews.com]

Published October 04, 2011

EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans are calling for a special counsel to determine whether Attorney General Eric Holder perjured himself during his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on Operation Fast and Furious, Fox News has learned.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, was sending a letter to President Obama on Tuesday arguing that Holder cannot investigate himself, and requesting the president instruct the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel.

The question is whether Holder committed perjury during a Judiciary Committee hearing on May 3. At the time, Holder indicated he was not familiar with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives program known as Fast and Furious until about April 2011.

“I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks,” Holder testified.

Christopher Prandoni: Obama Uses Debt Crisis to Raise Taxes

Christopher Prandoni

by Christopher Prandoni

After months of sitting on the sidelines, President Obama has injected himself into debt limit talks. Unfortunately, the president’s proposals are anything but novel—tax increases on oil and natural gas companies—and are unlikely to break the current impasse. Tax hikes are a non-starter for Republicans—the GOP has no interest in helping Obama fund his over-sized government that now consumes 25 percent of GDP.

Just a thought experiment, is raising oil and natural gas companies taxes a good way to address the deficit? Obama seems to think so. After all, the president decries oil and natural gas companies every chance he gets. Like yesterday, when he said:

“What we have talked about is that starting in 2013, that we have gotten rid of some of these egregious loopholes that are benefiting corporate jet owners or oil companies at a time where they’re making billions of dollars of profits.  What we have said is as part of a broader package we should have revenues, and the best place to get those revenues are from folks like me who have been extraordinarily fortunate, and that millionaires and billionaires can afford to pay a little bit more.”

Stalin Bust Sparks Outrage Among Small-Town Residents

The installation of a memorial bust of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin in Bedford, Va., next to Western Allied leaders in World War II has ignited a firestorm of controversy and threatened to tear apart the small town 200 miles south of the nation’s capital. (AP)

The installation of a memorial bust of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin in Bedford, Va., next to Western Allied leaders in World War II has ignited a firestorm of controversy and threatened to tear apart the small town 200 miles south of the nation’s capital.

Opponents of the bronze sculpture say it has no right to be placed in the National D-Day Memorial next to the busts of Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill because Stalin’s murderous rule led to the deaths of at least 20 million people, surpassing even the number of murders under Hitler’s bloody reign.

The Bedford board of supervisors voted unanimously late last month to ask the National D-Day Memorial Foundation to lose the bust. A group called the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation has an electronic petition calling on the memorial overseers to remove the bust. Several newspaper editorials have criticized the bust.

Obama Administration Secretly trying to CRASH Economy

Admin: November 7, 2009

THIS IS A MUST READ, AMERICA!

You’ve heard Rahm Emanuel say, “…never let a crisis go to waste.” –(from Sal Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”)  You’ve heard from Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and other say how much of the “Sal Alinsky” model “Rules for Radicals” lawmakers and government officials are following.  You’ve heard how Van Jones was an admitted Communist, before he was appointed (and later resigned) as “Green Czar” under Barack Obama.  Cass Sunstein even wants to “tweek” or “nudge” our Constitution bit by bit.  After you read this article, you may begin to connect the dots in your understanding.

All of this leads us to think about a last minute statement made on one of Glenn Beck’s shows:  “…look up “Cloward & Piven.”

Well, folks, we took him up on it and here is what we found on http://Cloward-Piven.com,

Quote: “Cloward-Piven is a strategy for forcing political change through orchestrated crisis.”

The strategy was first proposed in 1966 by Columbia University political scientists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven as a plan to bankrupt the welfare system and produce radical change. Sometimes known as the “crisis strategy” or the the “flood-the-rolls, bankrupt-the-cities strategy,” the Cloward-Piven approach called for swamping the welfare rolls with new applicants – more than the system could bear. It was hoped that the resulting economic collapse would lead to political turmoil and ultimately socialism.

The National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO), founded by African-American militant George Alvin Wiley, put the Cloward-Piven strategy to work in the streets. Its activities led directly to the welfare crisis that bankrupted New York City in 1975. (Please stop for a few minutes, and watch this YouTube cartoon from 1948.)

MAKE MINE FREEDOM

Veterans of NWRO went on to found the Living Wage Movement and the Voting Rights Movement, both of which rely on the Cloward-Piven strategy and both of which are spear-headed by the radical cult ACORN.

Both the Living Wage and Voting Rights movements depend heavily on financial support from George Soros’s Open Society Institute.

On August 11, 1965, the black district of Watts in Los Angeles exploded into violence, after police used batons to subdue a man suspected of drunk driving. Riots raged for six days, spilling over into other parts of the city, and leaving 34 dead. Two Columbia University sociologists, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were inspired by the riots to develop a new strategy for social change. In November 1965 – barely three months after the fires of Watts had subsided – Cloward and Piven began privately circulating copies of an article they had written called “Mobilizing the Poor: How it Could Be Done.” Six months later (on May 2, 1966), it was published in The Nation, under the title, “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty.”

The article electrified the Left. Following its May 2, 1966 publication, The Nation sold an unprecedented 30,000 reprints. Activists were abuzz over the so-called “crisis strategy” or “Cloward-Piven strategy,” as it came to be called. Many were eager to put it into effect.

Richard A. Cloward was then a professor of social work at Columbia University. He died in 2001. His co-author Frances Fox Piven was a research associate at Columbia’s School of Social Work. She now holds a Distinguished Professorship of Political Science and Sociology at the City University of New York.

In their 1966 article, Cloward and Piven charged that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor. By providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Cloward and Piven wanted to fan those flames. Poor people can advance only when “the rest of society is afraid of them,” Cloward told The New York Times on September 27, 1970. Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system. The collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation. Poor people would rise in revolt. Only then would “the rest of society” accept their demands. So wrote Cloward and Piven in 1966.

The key to sparking this rebellion would be to expose the inadequacy of the welfare state. This Cloward and Piven proposed to do, in classic Alinsky fashion, by forcing welfare bureaucrats to live up to their own book of rules.

The authors noted that the number of Americans subsisting on welfare – about 8 million, at the time – probably represented less than half the number who were technically eligible for full benefits. They proposed a “massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls.” Cloward and Piven calculated that persuading even a fraction of potential welfare recipients to demand their entitlements would bankrupt the system. The result, they predicted, would be “a profound financial and political crisis” that would unleash “powerful forces… for major economic reform at the national level.”

Their article called for “cadres of aggressive organizers” to use “demonstrations to create a climate of militancy.” Intimidated by black violence, politicians would appeal to the federal government for help. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of a “a federal program of income redistribution,” in the form of a guaranteed living income for all; working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it. With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act.

The Cloward-Piven strategy never achieved its goal of system breakdown and a Marxist utopia. But it provided a blueprint for some of the Left’s most destructive campaigns of the next three decades. It will likely haunt America for years to come since George Soros’ Shadow Party has now adopted the strategy, honing it into a far more efficient weapon than any of its Sixties-era promoters could have foreseen.

Cloward and Piven recruited a militant black organizer named George Wiley to lead their new movement. For more information on Wiley and his welfare rights movement. In the summer of 1967, Wiley founded the National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO), with headquarters in Washington, DC. Wiley’s tactics closely followed the recommendations set out in Cloward and Piven’s article. His followers invaded welfare offices across the nation – often violently – bullying social workers and loudly demanding every penny to which the law “entitled” them. By 1969, NWRO claimed a dues-paying membership of 22,500 families, with 523 chapters across the nation.
