Conservative Radio Host Mark Levin Takes To Fox News To Argue That Federal Judges Need Term Limits

[Mediaite.com]

by Jon Bershad | 4:04 pm, July 3rd, 2012

The Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act was about a bazillion years ago. However, some people are still angry about it. Shockingly (SHOCKINGLY!!!), the man who once wrote a book called Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America is one of them. That man, of course, is conservative radio host Mark Levin. Levin is furious at the recent CBS News report that Chief Justice John Roberts may have been swayed by the media. Levin is so furious at this kind of media tomfoolery that he went on Fox News (where’s he’s appeared a few times the past couple days) and called for Roberts to lose his job.

Shockingly (SHOCKINGLY!!!), it would appear that some media pressure is better than others.

Levin called in to talk to Megyn Kelly to lash out at Roberts and the Supreme Court. He began by mocking conservatives who were attempting to see a “silver lining” in the ruling, claiming that they were “blinded by their silliness.” He then argued that it was time to instate term limits for federal judges.

“What we lack, Megyn, in too many public officials — and that would included judges and justices, not all but too many — is virtue, integrity, prudence. And, over time, they become cynical, they become deceitful, and their view of our constitutional system collapses. And one way to try to address this is to ensure that there’s more opportunity for other great people, brilliant lawyers, judges, and so forth to step up to the plate and have an honest opportunity to participate in the governance of this country.”

PALM BEACH, Fla. – In the wake of leftist attacks on his radio show and advertisers, radio giant Rush Limbaugh today described those leading the campaign against him in a unique way.

“Media Matters is like jock itch,” Limbaugh declared. “You ever had jock itch?”

“It’s a chafing little rash in there. That’s all they are. That’s as serious as it is. Yeah, just a bunch of little twerps sittin’ around with nothing better to do, trying to occupy themselves.”

Obama Administration Considered Giving More Money to Solyndra, Emails Show

[TheBlaze.com]

According to hundreds of pages of emails obtained by Fox News, the Obama administration was considering giving an additional $5.4 million to the now-bankrupt solar panel manufacturer Solyndra in late August — just days before the firm filed for Chapter 11, laying off all of its employees.

The emails allegedly reveal that Energy Secretary Steven Chu and his staff were eager to find a way to salvage the distressed company, but officials at the White House, Treasury Department and Office of Management and Budget stepped in, ultimately cutting off additional funding to the company.

George W Bush in his first TV interview since leaving the White House Photo: NBC

Miss him yet? This week, President Obama’s predecessor sheds his low profile image.

In advance of the post-mid-term election release of his new memoir, Decision Points (available in bookstores on Tuesday) former president George Bush will be back in the media spotlight…as well as in its crosshairs.

Already, book reviews, media pundits, long-time critics, and latenight talk show hosts are chomping at the bit.

Matt Lauer’s interview with #43 kicks things off Monday night on NBC (I believe he also scored a live interview for Wednesday morning). On Tuesday, the guarantor of million-dollar book sales, Oprah Winfrey, will televise her taped interview with “the Decider”.

NPR Affiliate Managers Voice Discontent with Firing of Juan Williams

By James Rosen | October 25, 2010

Executives at NPR affiliate stations across the United States have begun publicly voicing discontent in the aftermath of the network’s dismissal of news analyst Juan Williams, with several station managers openly questioning the actions and judgment of NPR President and CEO Vivian Schiller.

Some station executives said Williams should not have been fired, while others said the firing should have been more professionally handled. Still others questioned whether NPR is fairly administering its own ethics rules, and suggested Williams was fired purely because he appears on Fox News.

The statements by NPR affiliate managers come in the wake of Schiller’s issuance late Sunday of a written apology to them for her handling of the incident, which has generated more flak for NPR than any other event in the network’s forty-year history of operations.

“While we stand firmly behind that decision” to terminate Williams’s contract, Schiller wrote in an e-mail to affiliate managers, “I regret that we did not take the time to prepare the station community and provide you with the tools to cope with the fallout from this episode. I also regret that this happened when the staff and volunteers of many stations were deeply engaged in pledge drives.”

NPR fired Williams late last Wednesday, forty-eight hours after his most recent appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor” with host Bill O’Reilly. The two were discussing the ongoing controversy about plans to build a mosque and cultural center near the September 11 attacks when Williams confided that he gets “nervous” seeing Muslims on the same passenger flights as himself. After NPR fired Williams, Fox News expanded and extended his contract as a contributor to the cable news channel.

A multi-state lawsuit against the federal health care overhaul will go forward, after a Florida federal judge on Thursday rejected the Obama administration’s request to dismiss the case.

District Judge Roger Vinson dismissed four of the six counts in the lawsuit led by Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, who is representing a challenge from 20 states. But he allowed two counts, including one challenging the law’s controversial requirement that Americans buy health insurance, to proceed. Opening arguments are scheduled for mid-December.

McCollum, hailing the decision as a “victory” of sorts, said the move confirms the “significance” of the states’ challenge.

“This ruling is a victory for the states, small businesses and the American people. It is the first step to having the individual mandate declared unconstitutional and upholding state sovereignty in our federal system,” he said in a written statement.

Chavez’s Socialist Party Loses Supermajority in Venezuelen Elections

FoxNews.com | WSJ

Monday, September 27, 2010

CARACAS, Venezuela —  Venezuela’s President Hugo Chávez suffered a political blow in congressional elections, losing the ability to pass new laws at will after opposition candidates banded together behind a unified plank of candidates.

Mr. Chávez still enjoys a congressional majority after candidates loyal to him won at least 96 of the 165 seats. But opposition candidates won at least 61 seats, enough to strip Mr. Chávez of his two-thirds majority-the threshold needed to pass sweeping legislation in the congress.

No official vote tally has been released. But the opposition says it also won 52% of the popular vote which, if verified, would provide momentum going into the 2012 presidential elections. “We are the majority,” said Ramón Guillermo Aveledo, an opposition director.

Aristóbulo Istúriz, campaign chief for the socialist PSUV party, also declared the results a victory. “We went for two-thirds and weren’t able to reach it,” he said. “But we’re the majority.” There was little joy at the Socialist party headquarters, which shut its doors as the vote count dragged on into the early hours of the morning.

“A new cycle begins today,” said Carlos Ocariz, the opposition mayor of Petare, a sprawling mostly slum district that was once a Chávez stronghold, but which elected an opposition deputy on Sunday. “Chávez’s rollercoaster is going down.”

The election is widely seen as a referendum on the president’s 11-year rule. Before the election, the populist leader had predicted his United Socialist Party of Venezuela or PSUV would win a two-thirds majority. Mr. Chávez, 56 years old, named the electoral campaign “Operation Demolition” and had told his followers to “demolish” the political opposition.

“This will change the political dynamics of Venezuela,” said Michael Shifter, president of the Washington-based think tank, the Inter-American Dialogue. “It’s a respectable result which the opposition can build on for the 2012 presidential race. It shows they are back in the game and Chávez is vulnerable.”

New plan for a decorative pinnacle atop the highest minaret of the Ground Zero Mosque :)

The Huffington Post weighs in on the Ground Zero Mosque insult by ….blaming me. How original.

Of course, front and center is Hamas-linked, unindicted co-conspirator, Muslim Brotherhood front CAIR, lying, smearing and opining. Why didn’t the Puff Ho ask Bin Laden’s take as well?

Pamela Geller, ‘Queen Of Muslim Bashers,’ At Center Of N.Y. ‘Mosque’ Debate.

According to a recent Time magazine poll, 61 percent of Americans now oppose building Park51. Geller says the notion that she has single-handedly instigated the opposition is absurd.

“I think it’s grossly unfair and condescending to the American people, as if they are lemmings and can’t think and feel for themselves,” she said in an interview. “I don’t have that kind of influence.”

Before she got into blogging and advocacy, Geller spent nearly a decade at the New York Daily News, starting as a financial analyst and making stops in the advertising and marketing departments. Later, Geller was associate publisher of The New York Observer for five years, she said.

The first hurricane of what experts fear will be a very severe season may be brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, and anxious workers struggling to cap the leaking oil well are watching and worrying.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned Friday morning of not one but two weather formations in the Gulf of Mexico, both with the potential to swell into more serious weather systems. Responders in the Gulf of Mexico are eyeing the storm system closely, to see whether it turns towards the Gulf and interferes with ability to mop up spilled oil and cap the leaking well.

Sestak: Clinton Chat Lasted Less Than a Minute (Really?)

NEWSMAX

Friday, 28 May 2010 05:47 PM

Rep. Joe Sestak says he spoke for less than minute with former President Bill Clinton about an appointment that was meant to keep the congressman out of the Pennsylvania Senate primary.

Sestak on Friday told reporters he never considered any position the White House was willing to offer in its attempt to ease the way for Sen. Arlen Specter in the Democratic primary. The White House says it used Clinton as a go-between to try and avoid a messy primary.

Sestak says the advisory panel posts he might have had were “either intelligence or defense.” He says he cut off Clinton, in whose White House he worked as a Navy officer. He says Clinton told him the offers came from White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Sestak Says Brother Spoke to W.H. on Allegations

Thursday, 27 May 2010 11:47 PM

Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., already under fire for allegations he was offered a job by the Obama administration to drop his successful primary Senate bid, said Thursday that his brother has spoken with White House officials about the controversy.

Sestak ran in, and won his primary bid, defeating the White House’s preferred candidate, Sen. Arlen Specter.

He told reporters Thursday that he would not expand upon his prior statements until the White House releases its report on the matter. President Obama said in his news conference that such a report would come “shortly.”

Richard Sestak, the congressman’s brother, who has served as his top political adviser and campaign lawyer, spoke with administration officials Wednesday, Joe Sestak said.

“They got a hold of my brother on his cell phone, and he spoke to the White House . . . about what’s going to occur,” said Sestak, who said he expects the White House will release its information Friday. He declined to elaborate on his discussions with Richard. (NEWSMAX)

Rep. Joe Sestak’s allegation that the White House offered him a job to drop out of the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Arlen Specter is a crime that could lead to the impeachment of President Obama, Rep. Darrell Issa said.

But the decision by the Pennsylvania congressman not to elaborate on a so-called deal also could become a political problem as Sestak tries for the U.S. Senate seat.
