[Breitbart.com]

April 11, 2013 – by Wynton Hall

On Wednesday, the daughter of President Barack Obama’s former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, was indicted on charges of lying to federal authorities and money laundering.

Jeri Wright was charged with seven counts of giving false testimony to a grand jury, two counts of money laundering, and two counts of making false statements to federal officers in a case involving a $1.25 million state grant for a non-profit program called “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper.”

The indictment alleges that Wright bagged three checks totaling $28,000 in funds intended for work related to the grant.

Putin orders ban on adoptions by LGBT foreign couples – report

The Russian president has opposed the adoption of Russian orphans by LGBT foreign couples, and has instructed the government and the Supreme Court to prepare changes to existing law before July 1.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order will most likely be fulfilled by the Ministry of Education and Science, which is currently dealing with issues concerning orphans and adoptions, Izvestia daily reported.

The ministry has not yet commented on the news, saying that Putin’s instructions had not yet reached their office.

Tensions over the issue arose in mid-February, after the French National Assembly voted to legalize adoptions by same-sex couples. At the time, the Russian plenipotentiary for children’s rights Pavel Astakhov said he would do everything to ensure that Russian orphans are only adopted by heterosexual families.

In mid-February, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that it planned to verify the possible “psychological damage” inflicted on Russian orphan Yegor Shabatalov, who was adopted by a US woman who lived in a same-sex marriage with another US citizen, but concealed her relationship from Russian authorities when she filed the adoption request. Two years after adopting the Russian boy, the couple split and started a legal dispute over parental rights.

State Department Purges Religious Freedom Section from Its Human Rights Reports

[CNSNews.com]

Stop Murdering Christians in Egypt(AP photo)

(CNSNews.com) – The U.S. State Department removed the sections covering religious freedom from the Country Reports on Human Rights that it released on May 24, three months past the statutory deadline Congress set for the release of these reports.

The new human rights reports–purged of the sections that discuss the status of religious freedom in each of the countries covered–are also the human rights reports that include the period that covered the Arab Spring and its aftermath.

Thus, the reports do not provide in-depth coverage of what has happened to Christians and other religious minorities in predominantly Muslim countries in the Middle East that saw the rise of revolutionary movements in 2011 in which Islamist forces played an instrumental role.

‘I Don’t See Any Difference Between’ Obama and ‘Henry VIII’–For Greater Glory Star

Eduardo Verastegui as Blessed Anacleto Gonzalez Flores in For Greater Glory.

(CNSNews.com) – Eduardo Verastegui, who plays the Catholic martyr Anacleto Gonzalez Flores in the soon to be released film For Greater Glory, says that Mexican President Plutarco Calles, whose government was responsible for Flores’s martyrdom in 1927, and President Barack Obama, who is moving forward in 2012 with a health-insurance regulation that will force Catholics in the United States to act against their faith, are both like Henry VIII, who martyred St. Thomas More in 1535 when More refused to act against his faith and take an oath affirming that Henry was the supreme authority over the church in England.

In January, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius finalized an Obamacare regulation that will require virtually all health-care plans in the United States to cover sterilizations and artificial contraceptives, including those that cause abortions. The regulation says that health-care plans must provide these benefits without any fees or co-pay.

Robert Maginnis White House huddles with Muslim Brotherhood

The White House spokesman said “we have broadened our engagement” by hosting the Islamist group that seeded al Qaeda and Hamas, praises Iran’s Hezbollah, and will transform Egypt into a Shari’a compliant state that seeks Israel’s destruction and creates a new terrorist sanctuary.

Jay Carney, the White House spokesman, said representatives from the world’s largest Islamic supremist movement, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, met with National Security Council staff last week because the group plays a “prominent role” in Cairo.  Further, NSC spokesman Tommy Vietor explained “It is in the interest of the United States to engage with parties that are committed to democratic principles, especially nonviolence.”

How Pro-Life Organizations Keep Abortion Legal

[Secular Morality - WordPress]

By Ethan Hill [secularjustice.wordpress.com]
Posted: April 07, 2012

Let me begin by stating that I am, in fact, a pro-life atheist. Unfortunately I am not an experienced medical doctor and must rely on others’ research to determine whether I am for or against abortion. My lack of medical knowledge is, however, something I challenge through openness to the opinions of more qualified individuals. It is difficult to take any Pro-Life organizations opposition to abortion as a valid point when the organization identifies itself as fulfilling the work of God. Abortion should not be ruled immoral because a Deity declared it to be. If a secularist wants to be part of a pro-life organization, where does he turn? Certainly not to creationist groups, who contend that birth-control contributes to the massive amount of abortions performed in the United States every year. Perhaps you stumble upon a moving video (Graphic content) that exposes the truth about how horrific abortions can be, only to realize you cannot support their organization because they are anti-birth control.

‘Mormon Factor’ Won’t Go Away With Romney

[PatriotUpdate.com]

March 25, 2012

Mitt Romney has a persisting Mormon problem. Less certain is whether this is limited to the Republican primaries or it’s a general-election worry, too.

“This nomination would be in the bag if it weren’t for the Mormon factor,” says John Geer, a professor of political science at Vanderbilt University who works on the intersection of religion and politics.

The exit polls from a plethora of primaries confirm that. Romney, a deeply devout leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, gets clobbered among white evangelicals and those who believe the religious views of a would-be president matter a great deal. This has caused him to lose a few primaries and denied him decisive wins in others.

Sometimes this hostility is openly articulated. Last year, Robert Jeffress, an evangelical leader who is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, called Mormonism a “cult,” and suggested Romney’s faith wouldn’t get him to heaven. It’s expressed by some rank-and-file conservatives, too. Scott Thomas, a Catholic and Rick Santorum supporter in Broomall, Pennsylvania, wondered if Romney, rather than President Barack Obama, “is the Antichrist.”

Iran court convicts Christian pastor convert to death

An undated photograph circulated by religious rights organizations shows Youcef Nadarkhani and his family.

A trial court in Iran has issued its final verdict, ordering a Christian pastor to be put to death for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity, according to sources close to the pastor and his legal team.

Supporters fear Youcef Nadarkhani, a 34-year-old father of two who was arrested over two years ago on charges of apostasy, may now be executed at any time without prior warning, as death sentences in Iran may be carried out immediately or dragged out for years.

It is unclear whether Nadarkhani can appeal the execution order.

“The world needs to stand up and say that a man cannot be put to death because of his faith,” said Jordan Sekulow, executive director of The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ).

Syrian Violence Spills Over Into Jordan, Leaving At Least 2 Diplomats Hurt in Embassy Attack

Reuters – Dec. 9, 2011: Syrians living in Jordan shout slogans during a demonstration against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad after Friday prayers in front of the Syrian Embassy in Amman.

BEIRUT –  Syrian troops battled army defectors Sunday in clashes that left several military vehicles in flames.

The fighting and other violence around the nation killed at least five people, activists said.

For the first time, an act of violent protest against President Bashar Assad’s regime spilled across the border into Jordan, where about a dozen Syrians attacked their embassy Sunday in the capital, Amman, wounding at least two diplomats and four other consulate employees.

The 9-month-old uprising against Syria’s authoritarian President Bashar Assad has grown increasingly violent in recent months as once-peaceful protesters take up arms and rebel soldiers joining the uprising fight back against the army. The U.N. says more than 4,000 people have been killed since March.

Libyan ambassador to U.S. pleads: Say something, Obama

But why? The singular lesson about U.S. power during the Egyptian revolution was that pretty much no one cares what The One thinks. Does this guy honestly believe Qaddafi’s going to call off a carpet-bombing campaign designed to preserve his rule because Obama says he’s “disappointed” in him or whatever?

“I want the U.S. to tell the world and to work with the countries who love peace…they have to stop this,” Ambassador Ali Ojli said, suggesting that he had resigned his post, in an interview with Al Jazeera English.

“I would never ask us to intervene physically in Libya,” he said, but called on the Obama Administration to “take a strong position that what’s happening in libya must be stopped now…and to avoid giving the impression to the Arab world that the West “has only a materialist mind — they don’t care about human rights…except when it comes to their own interest.”

Shocking Report: Chinese Officials Beat 8-Months-Pregnant Woman, Force Abortion

TheBlaze.com

Xiao Aiying was just one month away from having her baby. But when Chinese officials learned that she and her husband, Luo Yanquan, already had a 10-year-old daughter, that changed.

According to London’s Daily Mail, twelve government officials entered Xiao’s house in the city of Siming and began hitting and kicking her in the stomach. They then dragged her to the hospital, where they restrained her and later administered a lethal drug that killed the unborn baby.

Brusies on Xiao’s arm after the alleged beating and abortion.

“They held her hands behind her back and pushed her head against the wall and kicked her in the stomach,” Luo explained to the network Al Jazeera.

A day earlier, officials gave him 24 hours to come up with a plan. When he returned without one, that’s when officials stormed the house, took Xiao away, and aborted the baby. (More pictures and video links)

Come November, Remember June 29th’s ‘Temporary Restraining Order’ in Arizona

PajamasMedia.com

We all know what the motive behind it was, and it has nothing to do with “human rights” or “splitting up families” or other such poppycock.

July 28, 2010 – by Pam Meister

Most of the places I go to do serious business here in the U.S. require me to prove who I am. I am required to provide official identification if I want to:

  • Vote
  • Apply for a job
  • Enter a contest
  • Get a driver’s license
  • Apply for a loan or any other type of credit
  • Open a bank account and take money out of said account
  • Write a check for goods and services at various businesses

In fact, when applying for employment, one of the questions almost every employer will ask is if you are eligible to work legally in the U.S., either as a full-fledged citizen or a legal alien with a green card.

The few times I’ve been pulled over by the police for driving infractions, I’ve also been asked to provide not just my driver’s license, but proof of having registered my car and proof of current insurance on that car.
