Email Claims: Obama Promised Solyndra CEO He Would Look Into Buying Solyndra’s Solar Panels for Gov’t Buildings

On July 26, 2010, the first of several news stories reported that Brian Harrison was replacing Gronet as CEO of Solyndra.

On Aug. 10, 2010, the Solyndra investor (whose name was redacted) sent his email to Solyndra’s new CEO, Brian Harrison, and Steve Mitchell of Argonaut, and another person whose name is redacted, claiming Obama had promised Gronet that he would look into having the government buy Solyndra’s panels.

The investor was responding to a previous email from a person whose name is also redacted who pointed out a recent report that the solar power firm SunPower had gotten a contract at an Air Force base. Continue reading

The Numbers War Between the States

North Carolina and Virginia are the only two Southern states currently conducting official recounts. But a devoted handful of amateurs are doing their own counts. Bing Chambers, a 63-year-old retiree and amateur historian from Columbia, S.C., has spent at least 17 years researching his state’s war dead. He thinks his new research will raise his state’s toll to about 22,000 from an earlier estimate of 17,682. He has long wondered about North Carolina’s claim. “Frankly, 40,000 always seemed like a lot,” he says, adding that his research has proved a longstanding Palmetto State claim that not one white South Carolinian fought for the federal government during the war. Did the White House interfere with NYT research of Kagan?

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents from Hunter College High School regarding a White House effort to deny New York Times education reporter Sharon Otterman access to Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan’s brother Irving, who currently teaches at the New York school. Otterman requested and received permission from both the school and Irving Kagan to attend one of Mr. Kagan’s constitutional law classes before White House Deputy Press Secretary Joshua Earnest intervened. “I’m definitely not comfortable with that at this point,” Earnest wrote to Ms. Otterman on May 11, 2010.
