There was a cavalcade of Leftist – and media, please pardon the redundancy – politically opportunistic idiocy in response to this weekend’s horrendous Tucson, Arizona murders. Which were committed unilaterally and without any assistance from anyone by the deranged Jared Loughner.
Never ones to let facts get in the way of a good beating, a great many Progressives grabbed onto the complete lack of any evidence to assign complicit blame for the homicides to Governor Sarah Palin, conservative talk radio, the TEA Party and anyone else right of center of whom they could think.
This is of course just another Left attempt to silence speech they find unhelpful to the advancement of Leftism. Those who claim that speech with which they disagree leads to violence – aren’t at all comfortable with truly free speech.
The Marxist Media “reformers” at Free Press likewise rushed to not let this crisis go to waste.
I would like to specifically highlight the Twitter work of Free Press’s Campaign Director Tim Karr. Who jumped on board the blame bandwagon – and the shark – with a series of Tweets aimed at taking advantage of the Arizona body count to advance Free Press’s media “reform” agenda.
An agenda which includes amongst many other terrible ideas the exponential expansion of the government funding of journalism – so as to improve it. Which is always what happens when you increase the government’s role in something.
The gallant and classy Karr unleashed a flurry of Tweets that connected conservative “haters” to the murders committed by a man none of them had ever met. And as if that weren’t sufficiently untethered from Reality, Karr also blamed the conservatives’ “media enablers.” As if the endless reams of evidence of the Leftist media on this and all things just… didn’t exist.

Jared Lee Loughner, the suspected gunman in a shooting rampage at a Safeway supermarket in Arizona that left six dead and 14 wounded, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, reportedly planned the shooting in advance.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Loughner’s home and found a letter inside a safe that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords wrote to Loughner on Aug 30, 2007, thanking him for attending a “Congress on Your Corner” event, according to an FBI agent affidavit filed with a five-count criminal complaint.
“Also recovered in the safe was an envelope with handwriting on the envelope stating “I planned ahead” and “My assassination” and the name “Giffords,” along with what appears to be LOUGHNER’s signature,” the criminal complaint reads.
Federal charges have been filed against Loughner, who fired the shots during a political event.

The criminal complaint includes an attempt to kill a member of Congress, two counts of murder in the first degree and two counts of attempted murder.
This comes as authorities announced that the man previously thought to be associated with the suspect has been cleared of any involvement in Rep. Gabrielle Giffords shooting.
Fox News has confirmed that the white man in his 40s or 50s who was photographed by a security camera arriving at the “Congress on Your Corner” event at the same time as the suspect was eliminated as a person of interest.
FBI Director Robert Mueller said earlier on Sunday that Loughner, 22, may face additional charges under the domestic terrorism statute.

UPDATE: Another tie to a Jew-hating organization has been discovered: American Renaissance.
It is on the left where the Jew-hatred and demonization of Israel is found today. Jew-hatred and anti-Israel rhetoric is a major platform, a cause celebre of the left.
In this video, the Arizona political leftwing radical mass slaughterer, Jared Loughner, is dressed up as a terrorist as he sets the American flag on fire. The song you hear is “Let the bodies hit the floor” by the Drowning Pool, the same song the US government used to an interrogation tool at GITMO.
Further, it is now official that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was indeed the target. It bears noting that Giffords is the first Jewish congresswoman elected from that state (Atlas was one of the first to point that out early yesterday). One of Loughner’s favorite books is Hitler’s Mein Kampf.
