The Climatic Research Unit, a key climate science facility at the School of Environmental Sciences, a part of the University of East Anglia in the UK.
Are your tax dollars helping hide global warming data from the public? Internal emails leaked as part of “Climategate 2.0” indicate the answer may be “Yes.”
The original Climategate emails — correspondence stolen from servers at a research facility in the U.K. and released on the Internet in late 2009 — shook up the field of climate research. Now a new batch posted in late November to a Russian server shows that scientists at the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit refused to share their U.S. government-funded data with anyone they thought would disagree with them.

(Source: The Daily Mail)About 100 Muslim demonstrators burned an American flag outside the U.S. embassy in London Sunday during a moment of silence to mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Shouting “USA — terrorist state!” protesters carried anti-American signs and made speeches denouncing the United States, the London Telegraph reported.
“You will always face suffering, you will always face humiliation, unless you withdraw your troops from Muslim lands,” one protester said.
Another declared that America had been “defeated in Iraq and defeated in Afghanistan.”

Cameron wants UK drawdowns in Afghanistan “within weeks”

Barack Obama has difficult decisions ahead of him this summer as he mulls over his pledge to draw down American troop levels after the late 2009 surge and a new, aggressive COIN strategy has made progress in Afghanistan. His main partner in the NATO coalition has complicated the problem for the US. UK Prime Minister David Cameron has demanded an immediate drawdown of hundreds of British troops and will apparently insist that his country will exit entirely by 2014:
Following the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, the Prime Minister is increasingly determined to start bringing the Afghan mission to an end. He has told defence chiefs he wants to start the withdrawal this summer, as the US begins to reduce its troop numbers.

LONDON (AP) — British anti-terrorism police said Monday they arrested 12 men in early morning raids on three cities to protect the public amid fears of a holiday season terrorism plot.
Assistant Commissioner John Yates, the U.K. ‘s lead police officer for counterterrorism, said the suspects were detained in London, in the central English city of Stoke-on-Trent and in Cardiff, Wales.
The arrests follow several weeks of surveillance and are not believed to be linked to other recent plots against Europe or the recent bombing in Sweden.
“The operation is in its early stages so we are unable to go into detail at this time about the suspected offenses,” Yates said in a statement. “However, I believe it was necessary at this time to take action in order to ensure public safety.”
Police said 11 of the suspects were arrested at or close to their homes at around 5 a.m., while the remaining man was detained at a property in the central England city of Birmingham.
Five of the arrested men are from Cardiff, four from Stoke-on-Trent and three from London, officers said.
